O.K.? Me and the Mrs. have been thinking of getting another Harley Davidson Electra glide Ultra, and the dealership said they would give me $1300.00 for my FJ1200, but thinking of selling instead of using as a trade in. I was wondering what the opinion you guys might have? according to KKB, the bike is worth about $1355.00 on a trade in, And about $2100.00 private sale, But NADA says on the trade in, about $1700.00 and $2300.00 on private, Here a pic. please give me your opinions, Thanks

Oh man, you gotta do whatever you have to do if you have a chance to get another 'real bike' like an H-D.

I mean, these disposable old Japanese things are a dime a dozen, right?          :bad:

From looking at your photo, the plastic all looks in superb shape. If it starts, runs and stops as well as it looks. I would say $2000.00+ is an easy target. Maybe send George (movenon) a PM. He may be in the market.

Dude, why are you asking us? Unless you feel some trepidation of loosing your FJ. If you don't want to loose your FJ then don't sell it... On the other hand, if it is not working for you then it is time to move on... Very simple.... Does it speak/sing to you? Not the gas tank when it vents.... If you sell it, how will you feel about it? Nothing wrong with liking something else, it needs to fit you. You initially seemed to like it as if it fit like a glove, know thy self first.... If you follow what you really want then you will will make a better choice for your self.... Even if you sell it we will enjoy your posts if you chose to stay.... Keep us posted..

84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

I ride both, and it works out great for me. A couple grand isn't going to make much difference on the Harley. Sooooooooo I say keep the FJ and get the damn Harley.

There are two places on the plastic that needs some attention, but other than that its in good shape, IT does run great, starts and stops no problems, I thought i might have had the 2nd gear blues with this bike, but only happened twice after i first bought the bike back in march, I do like how it rides, but not much into speed these days, so in that aspect? not being able to do high speed turns and what not, isn't a problem for me, But? I not totally set on getting rid of my FJ, This was just something that the wife and I have talked about, If I keep the FJ, I'll be alone when I ride, Because if I get another H-D, She wont get back on the FJ

Most important quest...is fj paid off and would you need payments to get into a harley?
Isn't any harley gonna be over 10k easy? Since these bikes are so cheap and a massive bang for the buck why not simply keep it i say

Yes FJ is owned free and clear, Just would hate to see it just collect dust in the garage,  i doubt i'd be able to get the misses back on the FJ once i get the H-D, she has been pushing me to get another full dress H-d for a little while now, she gets on the FJ now because at present that's all that we got to ride, Riding is something i love to do, and having my wife with me is a must, I love spending as much time with her as i can, So not taking her with me is not a option... I would hate to see my Fj go but? would hate more to see it just waste away in the garage

After owning a GL 1800 Goldwing for about a year, I can attest that there is no comparison between the back seat of an FJ and a luxury tourer.....none whatsoever. Just remember, happy wife,  happy life.

my 98 Electra ultra glide was around 800 LBS, but very comfortable to ride, I could ride for hours upon hours with out stopping, All the functions of a car, cruise, stereo, and more, As to my wife? she'll get on the FJ but wants to stop even more than i want to, I do like the ride of the FJ for short sprints, But on long runs, just cant beat the ride on a full dress

Tooo many corners down here to worry about cruising for hours  , as for luxurious comfort,  the corbin seats are great,  I've sat on the amchair harley and such seats,  rather plush

You did not mention what year HD you are thinking of purchasing, but any touring model since the 2010 model year comes stock with a catalytic converter in the head pipe located at the right side floor board, so if you want a comfortable ride you will effectively trade the FJ fora new  exhaust and engine tuning.  And the Ultra is at least 900 pounds now.

my 98' Electra ultra glide was just under 800 lbs w/ fluids, the H-D I'm looking at is a 09'
