I've seen a guy do just that nova, be an easy way to drop the bike too :shok:
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots

I never realized that the handles were for putting the bike on the center stand....I thought they were passenger grab handles.... I just put my foot on the center stand foot thing and pull the bike back by the handle bars. what a bunch of sissies! :drinks: just kidding, when I first got my fj I remember thinking," holy shit this thing is heavy" its probably a little easier for me though because im 6'6" 270lbs. more leverage and weight.

They are passenger grab handles...................There is also a lift handle under the left side of the seat. The left side panel has a cutout where you put your hand while you are lifting the bike onto the centerstand..................

That may technically be a passenger grab handle but in reality that's a real shitty place for a passenger to hold onto during a ride - unless you don't mind their helmet banging into the back of yours everytime you come to a stop. The only thing worse would be the vinyl strap that the old '70's era bikes had running between the rider and passenger seat. That was a real quality item!

When the love of my life rides on the back with me, it doesn't matter where she is holding on to, the amount of scratches on the back of my helmet increases significantly after every ride! :dash1:

Sure hope your wife doesn't find out!   :shok:

My wife is a great passenger. The only time her helmet hits mine is when she starts nodding off. That only tends to happen when we've been riding all day.

That used to happen all the time to me and the Mrs, that is until I got a new shock. Now when we take off from a stop and shift from 1st to 2nd, our helmets no longer bump.  :good2:

I like the helmet bump, it means I'm with one of my kids and we're enjoying the ride together!  On the center stand... yes, using the hidden grab rail is a must.  Also - my center stand holes were worn oblong and that messed up all sorts of geometry (heavy lifting).  I saw much improvement after filling the ovals with weld and making them round again.

Hahahahahahahaa...my wife 'nods off' once we are up and running again after a late morning/early afternoon meal  :boredom: :morning2:

...and she is a great pillion too :good:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in an attractive & well preserved body...but rather to slide in sideways, body completely worn out and and with your last dying breath screaming, "HOOOYA LIFE, lets try that again"!!!

HARTLESS

My girlfriend is too nervous to nod off....she likes riding but has anxiety.  Sometimes I wonder if the helmet bump is her telling me she is there and to slow down....i usually speed up :sarcastic:

I have that problem with my side stand. It's oblonged out and flops about when I ride. I bought a rare earth magnet to help keep it in place. My center stand spring is worn and it too flaps about and drags prematurely when I corner hard. I ordered some magnets to help that problem too. Will let you know how that works out.

We're still talking about the side stand, right? Otherwise you may want to see your doctor.
