I got some more assembly done over the past few nights.

I wanted to install a small auxilliary fuse panel to run the various accessories I have installed, and after searching around the frame, and trying to find a spot where it wouldn't be contacted by anything, but still be close to the battery, I decided to mount it to the top of the air intake horn that feeds the airbox.





I added a 40amp relay to power the fuse block.



Mounted the relay here.





I decided to use this source as a supply power to switch my relay, so that everything shuts off with the key.



The fuse block has room for 6 circuits. I used 4 of them, so I have room to add a couple more things down the road.



And since my wife is a teacher, she has a kick-ass label maker.............so I put it to good use.





I also cleaned, and re-oiled my K&N filter while I had the airbox lid off.



Next, I set about mounting the ballast, and various control boxes for the HID headlamp kit to the fairing stay bracket................space is certainly hard to come by up under there.









Switched out the H4 bulb, for the new 55W HID bulb.





Wired everything up, and zip-tied everything in place........Bolted the fairing back on, and tested it out..............HOLY CRAP!
At initial light-off of the lamp, it has a slight bluish tint. After about 4 seconds of warm up, it becomes about twice as intense, and turns to a super bright white..
I am impressed! I thought my Silverstar-Ultra Halogen was bright...................





Next, I found a place to mount the controller for the heated grips.



Wired that all together, and tested them out. I left them on for about 5 minutes, and they get pretty hot on high.



Then, I found an old 1" socket, and ground it down slightly to fit inside the oil filter adapter I got from Randy...........You need a thin-walled socket here.




That's as far as I got as of last night..........................................She's looking like a Motorcycle again...................More to come.

Dremels are for doing your own dental work but I agree with you on the label maker.

Doug, get one of those in you sweaty little hands and you won't be able to stop.

The sticker below is to remind me to remind the tyre changer not to trash my pressure/ temp sender units inside the wheel.
The reason I posted it is because it's on the back wheel which I wash with a nylon brush and it's been there for 15,000 kms and looks as good as the day I put it on. It has also been wiped with all sorts of potent cleaners and solvents to remove chain lube.



I mostly use it on the bike to identify wiring.

Buggers! I was contemplating the costs of some heated grips for the finger freeze ride in July. Now I gotta buy a label maker and some pressure/temp sender units as well... Lucky I`m covered with private health insurance for dental work!

I put some red threadlock on the filter outlet tube/bolt, and bolted it up on the engine. I re-used the o-ring from my original housing.......


I used a Bosch filter, part# 3300. (I originally bought a Mobil-1 filter, but the one that crosses over to this one had a round o-ring instead of a flat gasket, and it didn't quite cover the holes completely, so I didn't dare use it)


I installed new exhaust header gaskets..........


And bolted the exhaust system up!


Filled the engine with 4qts of Mobil-1


Then today, as soon as I got home from work, I set her up for the carb sync!




Once I had her up to proper operating temp, I reset my idle mixture screws, and set about sync-ing the carbs.


This is as close as I could get it, after fiddling with it for about 15 minutes.


I shut her down, and left the fans on her while I went in and ate dinner.
Then I came out, and was getting excited while I put the tank, and remaining panels back on.
A spray with some quick detailer to wipe the dust off, and she was ready to ride!


I got my gear on, and took her up the street to put some fresh gas, and a bottle of Star-Tron in her, then took her on a 45 minute shakedown ride to make sure everything worked properly....................I sure did miss riding for the past few months!
I got a couple valves that are on the loose,loose side of the adjustment range, and I can hear them tapping slightly(which I never heard before) but she runs good.....
I got a half-day ride planned on Sunday in the front range with a Meetup group that I ride with from time to time.
I am really looking forward to that! :drinks:

Kind of doing the same here. I put the bags and stuff on to go to the rally and will run her a little tomorrow. She is a bit over grossed I am sure  :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:. See what falls off !

You and Alan have the good looking bikes !! I like the darker colors.  I just tried to clean mine up a little during the winter. The old clear coating on the AL. was turning yellow and pitting so I stripped the stuff off and cleaned it up a bit between waiting for parts to arrive and "engineering" out problems..... :dash2: :good2: Yen an yang.

Alan, you are going to like that oil filter conversion. It makes it so much cleaner and easier to change oil IMO. Valves on the loose side are better than the tight side !!!!
I set all mine up with in spec but on the loose end.

Leon, I think Randy has a oil plug in his inventory that will adapt in a oil temp sensor. I am not there yet but it's on my mind. I am still waiting for the boat to arrive from China with my voltmeter.... Also thinking about installing a dash cam under the headlight and wiring an on/off switch for it on the dash area... On going "stuff" I guess. Right now everything has to come to as stop and concentrate on getting things ready for the rally. First motorcycle camping trip in many,many years. Like starting all over again. Plan on departing here the 28th.

There is alot that I like about your bike............
I like the black wheels with the red stripe, and I like the polished fork lowers...There are times that I wish I didn't do my wheels in gold, but I like the way they turned out....
What is that little can on your rear brake torque arm? Is it a shock reservoir?
I also like your polished engine cooling fins. I have always liked that look.
Overall, your bike is very nicely done! I am looking for some small (possibly L E D) driving lights to mount on my engine guards, similar to where yours are mounted.......
Now that I work for the county, I have access to all our vendors who supply all the L E D strobes, and aux lighting for the sherriff's vehicles  :good:

And your bike looks about as loaded down as mine was for the two rallies that I attended.....................
