Our MOT inspections are quite tough with inspections of; lights, brakes (tested on a rolling road), forks (inc seals.), rear suspension (including linkages for play.), exhausts for the correct BS stamp and noise, chain & sprockets, tyres, oil leaks, controls and so on.

It is an excepted part of our motoring culture which occurs once a year for every bike (if it's on the road) irrelevant of which county or country you live in within the UK. Although this may change if the Scots gain independence. (for them at least.)

Here in New Mexico, no inspections and no helmets needed.  Helps sort out the all the riffraff.
