I'm not a big fan of powder coat, so I paint everything. I have in fits and starts bought endless cans of silver to touch up the the FJ frame and they are never right. I know a paint shop will mix paint and put it in a rattle can for you but I was never serious enough to bother.

I recently bought a can (another one) of spray paint that is a near perfect match.

It is an off the shelf colour and is a polyurethane coating so it's very tough and not affected by fuel or oil.

So for those of you looking to spruce the old girl up on a budget or don't want to strip the whole bike down, it is a VHT product: SP188 FORD ARGENT SILVER. I have just done my swing arm and it looks great.

Thanks Noel for the tip. My frame is showing a bit of age... Unlike me

Noel,

I've found a number of paints labeled "Aluminum" are a pretty close match for touch-ups.  I'll keep your suggestion for any whole parts I need to re-paint.
