Looks like I will need to machine 1/4" off of the wheel spacer. I have not read this on anyone else's upgrade. Am I missing something, all is inline with the triple trees. If I spread the forks apart that's undo stress on the forks/seals. Any input would be great. Again thank you in advance

Is the speedo drive fully seated?

Are the wheel bearings also fully seated?

The bearings are for sure, I will need to check the speedo drive, it did pop into place when I instead it? I'll take apart and measure it.

If you have the correct parts this should fit like it was made to. What year wheel and which model fzr.

Hey Kurt
88 fzr 1000 wheel, 90 FJ forks.

Last year I installed an 87/88 FZR1000 wheel on 89' forks, bolted right up. Make sure the spacer opposite side of the speedo hub is facing the correct way. Narrow side slips into the wheel.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Just did mine. 88 FZR / 1990 FJ. Fit perfectly. FJmonkey is probably on the right track there.
