Still finding all about the '86 and just what she will do.
It scares the living shit out of me actually... It is probably 70 km/h quicker than my Bonneville, and near on twice the horses.

Anyways, supposedly this thing will do 240 odd, got me to thinking. Top gear, 40 km/h, and it will pull away quite well and start accelerating, slowly at first but building, the friggin thing seems to have a rate of acceleration that increases the faster you go, it gets real fun past 150. Haven't had the opportunity or the balls to run it flat just to see what it will do, but been past 220 a few times, scary place, 200 feet every second.

Anyways, so it will pull in top gear from 40 to 240, which must of been a bit of a rarity and a novelty in its day, a 200 km/h of usable power range in the one gear.

Oh, and it bucked me off the other day at 5 km/h... Deserted street, no one saw it, not often that happens! :D
But me falling off at stupidly slow speeds is a bad habit I have got.
5 times in the last 14 months, it is costing me a fortune.   :dash2:

Yep, shes got lots of tourque and will pull from just about any gear. Around town if you don't mind the higher RPMS you can just get by with 2 gear. Shes a sweet ride. As I am an old fart I think that I will go up to an 18 tooth front sprocket... Now how fast can I go.  :rofl2: :rofl2:.

Life isn't about having the best, but about making the best of what you have...

YOu need to keep the engine spinning and either the clutch engaged or slipping when doing the slow speed stuff..... that big ol rotating crank helps keep the bike from feeling so top heavy.

yes the FJ engine is very flexible! but ya dont wanna ride it like a scooter

At 104,000 miles, mine is surely getting a bit weak lately.  (One winter soon, I really want to pull the motor and mail it to RPM.)  But back when it and I were both younger, it would show 9,500 in 5th on level ground.  Took a bit of time up beyond the 8,500 rpm power peak, squeezing out that last 15 mph, but it got there after a bit.

<- pic.  Not of 240 km/h, but not bad for 100,000 miles.

Reg Pridmore yelled at me once

Hey DOGTIRED. One things for sure with the FJ........you sure as hell don't get a ride like that at Disneyland......

She was Queen of the 5th gear roll-on until the late '90s.... I think it was the 'Busa that finally took over the top of the list.
