Hi, Been gone awhile.  Working for a living is not all it is cracked up to be.  I finally ordered a JD2 M32 Bender  1/2 die.  Thought I needed a tube roller too, for copying the other design. (turned into a pain in the ___)  Chop saw, tube notcher and stuff that added to a pile of money.  But what the heck, can't take it with ya.

Roughed out of EMT to get a basic shape and idea of how much Dom Tube will need.
Scraped out a lot of bends and rolled tube figuring a frame design that would work.

Ignore the duct tape, it's the only thing holding it together.

Wasted a lot of EMT to get to this design.  Kinda like it.

Wheel track will be 84" wide.  11' long.   36 inch tall.  4  inch ground clearance.

Wow!!! What a project, keep it coming. This is cool. You might already have considered this but that skinny ass rear tire is gonna take a beating. You could use some more contact patch. Design as you go, fun to watch...

Very ambitious, that's exactly how to do it....old school, build a mock up and then fabricate and weld.
A couple of Q's: What is your plan on getting airflow to the engine? Rather than a air cooled engine, Wouldn't a water pumper be a better choice?
Some more thought will be needed on the anchor point for the upper A arm, the angled tube may not be the best choice.
What of body will you use?  Keep it up laddie.... Pat

Have a long way to go. Would like to get a drivable prototype.

Wider Rear Tire - on the list.  Would like to rebuild swing arm and mount car tire. Not sure how build axle to hold sprocket, brake and a car hub. But on the list

Air flow - going to add an air scoop on top, air scoop on each side and at least 2 fans.
If I can get away without a top scoop I will. Be kinda neat to drive under semi's.  At 36 inch total height, have to prove my vastly  superior stupidity. lol   
I also bought a wrecked 2007 R6 for second build.

Exhaust - either I will have to raise the engine up a few inches because pipe run underneath or cut the pipe and pipe to the side.  The 4 to 1's go to a straight thru muffler now. Had anyone run 4 straight pipes?  Thinking there would be no back pressure.  Which opens up a whole 'nother can of worms discussion about back pressure.

Upper A-Arm - that is kinda  bummer spot.  if move the cross brace higher, it in in line of sight and makes windshield small.  I'm guessing the whole thing will weight about 1000 lbs.  I have a vehicle scale and will have to check the balance but guessing it will be 30/70. would like 60/40.  If it is 30/70 that would only put 300 lbs on the front tires so 150lbs load each.  Have to take it out and hit some big pot hole and see how much shock force it can take.  We will call it destructive engineering.

Thinking it will under steer.   
Also have to machine extension arms for the rack so I don't get bump steer.   

Was going to use 1 1/2 x 0.093 dom  but more I look at the stress points.  moving top support in to make it easier to get in and out. I am going to use 1 1/2 x 0.120 dom

Body - Will use foam and fiberglass. Body will have to wait til I beat the crap outta the frame to make sure it can take the stress. The frame is pretty much beer engineered. 
I will make some gull wing doors.   Hope to bend some lexan Polycarbonate sheet to make them, be nice side/ top window.  Otherwise will be gull wing with only side window.

Looking for a windshield I could adapt into it.  Been searching the internet for a windshield database that list dimensions.  One has to exist.

thats going to be coool once finished, but half the fun must be building it  ,, maybe some sexy ducts in the front and side for cooling, , how about 6mm perspex for the front screen,  , maybe a body crossed between a dodge viper and a pt cruiser

I stopped by the Jeep dealership today. Cruised the used lot so the salesman wouldn't come out. He came out anyway. No sale today lol. Just measuring
2009 wranglers windshield flat or very flat.  18 1/2 by 56 inches about perfect for what I need.
$120 dropped to a dealer near here.

With the reduced air flow, I want to add larger oil cooler with fan.

This is a Universal 19-Row Engine/Transmission 10-AN Oil Cooler
Other than making oil line adapters does anyone see a problem using one of these?

Thinking of relocating the oil cooler to the front of the trike to get max air flow.
Lines would be about 6 ft each.
Does anyone know if that is too far to try to push the oil?  Starve the motor for oil if too much resistance in lines?

A lot of the Cam-Am style trikes coming from China.  Not a bad price either if the motors hold up.

In my advanced age, I like the T-Rex style.  Some cage for protection.

That's what kinda pushed me into getting serious about building this trike. ( Been procrastinating for years)
Last fall a car pulled out in front of my on the  4 lane highway coming into town. He was looking the other way, trying to cross the 4 lane.
Was only a 45 MPH zone. He pulled out close but I still had enough time to avoid him. Laid on the brakes and leaned to turn into the other lane.
Figured no problem was going to miss him.  Then compost happened.  Leaned too far, pulled the brake to hard, gravel on the road, not sure but all of a sudden the front wheel squirted out from under me.  Which was a very strange feeling.

A lot of things go thru a guys mind quickly. Like, Dam wish I hand anti-lock brake, to, this is going to hurt.  When the bike tipped, some how wedged my foot into the road and jammed it into the gas tank. But was enough for the wheels to catch and just missed the guy.  Only lost my big toe nail and a small dent in my gas tank. Thought I broke my leg. Hurt like hell, was going to go to hospital but by the time I got 1/2 way there I could move my toes and leg so I just went home.

That was way too close, closest I've ever been to being in a wreck.  Time for this old boy to go semi-caged.  Plus I will have a beer holder. I mean cup holder.

And if needed, readily available at any home depot center.  I wonder if he gets a break on his home owners insurance?

I called a local glass shop to see if how much to get the jeep windshield locally.  He ask alot of questions about the make and model I could not answer, so I told him what I was doing.  He said 'No Problem'  make a template from plywood and bring it in.  They have sheets of safety glass and he could cut.  He said about $65 for that size.  WOW...  Like that.  Making me think I will put another vertical center brace on the front flat part and make that safety glass too.  Be easier to see where going.  If it works, Kewl..  if it get cracked too easy, part of figuring things out as I go.  But the thinking for now is the front will be mostly glass.

Almost too wide, running out of width. But price was right.
Buying parts and making the frame fit around it lol,
The frame is getting too dam wide.  Last measure will have to be 88 inches  tire track.

My brother used cardboard when he had the windshield cut for his dunebuggy... Cheaper AND easier to work with than plywood.
