I've got a set of Chase-harper saddle bags but have yet to see if she will be able to sit comfortably with them on the bike, that's the next learning lesson.

I would say yes, she will be comfortable and the bags will not be in her way.  I've got a set of soft saddle bags  (GIVI Arrowbags) and the same corbin seat as yours and they are not in the way of the passenger at all.  I'd suggest a bracket to hold them in the proper place. http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=1823.0

There is another design in the files section, but in my opinion they look like they would punch through the sidewalls of the bags after a while.  I haven't tried them though so maybe that's not the case.  Either way, I doubt the bags will be in your way (her way) and you'll love being able to carry extra clothing, etc, or pick up a bottle of wine at one of those great looking stops you made in the your pictures.

There are a plethora  :good2: My understanding is that they all work with any Corbin seat. Please, anyone correct me if I'm wrong.....

The angle of the stem might be different for other bikes. I have a Corbin L&G with back rest, one of the older style. I should try to find the back rest and take some pics. It might help determine if other back rests will fit.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Mark,

Might be helpful to not only get the angle, but the measurments of the box section tubing. Just a thought.

I have a Givi Wingrack II with top case that serves as a back rest for the wife. We tried the Corbin and WE were not happy with that set up. Grateful for the current set up as it satisfied my wife's need to carry all her womanly items.

Corbin is a manufacturer, they save money by changing very little in the materials they need. The backrest I have looks like it has a 1/2 x 1/2 solid square bar. I think that nearly all the backrests they use are the same interface, but seat design might change the angle. Just saying.... I could be wrong...

FWIW, I bought mine (older trapezoid style) some time back from a snooty BMW dealer on eBay.  He insisted that it would only Corbin seats on BMWs.  It fit my FJ seat just fine.

Not exactly Case and Point but Corbin wants to combine their design and and engineering efforts. Been doing this too long, its what I know....

Per Corbin's website, all the current backrests are adjustable for angle.

Yep, I've got two backrests and both are adjustable.  They use a set screw horizontally to adjust the angle and as a stop,  and a cap screw vertically to lock up the setting.  The set screw prevents it from folding backwards should the horizontal locking screw become loose.

Good to know, my current Corbin is not adjustable, guess it depends on one's definition of current... Maybe I need to get a pillion that is adjustable..... Super flexible might add some options.....

I have a Corbin knock-off backrest mounted to my Corbin. I got it brand new on eBay for $94.00. The square peg fits perfect and locks down nice and firm. There is a set screw at the hinge to adjust for angle. Back in November my girlfriend rode with me on a 450 mile ride. She liked having the backrest and was a great confidence booster.

This is the same backrest that I have except mine has red piping. And this is the same seller that I got mine from.

So does your rack connect to the backrest?

What kind of rack is that?

aviationfred

The backrest attaches through the hole under the flap at the back of the seat and secures with a bolt underneath the seat. The Rack is from Hepco & Becker.

Here is a photo with the backrest and no rack

This is a photo of the complete Hepco & Becker rack, for Panniers and Top Box.
