Yes - I have seen your track pics as of late - I'm sure I would need you on the 600 handicap for me to keep pace with you now...

Well...we have gone off-topic like usual...but at least you can practice your track skills on that FJR...since it has NO cornering clearance.  You are required to hang off it to get any kind of speed through the corners...   The second corner I ever took on one I scrapped the shit out of the peg.  I asked the owner (who was the previous owner of my 89 - and who had thousands of $ of mods on his FJR - including a bling bling Ohlins rear shock) if he had ever scraped his pegs on it - to my astonishment he said no.  Shocked the shit out of me - since I couldn't take gentle corners without them touching down.  I told him that he has now!!  He wanted me to buy his FJR - I declined on that basis.

However - I know Dean must do well on his FJR cuz he hangs off anyways...I don't really do that though...   (makes me wonder about Henry and his FJR - since I don't recall him hanging off of his FJ)  I'll have to convince LA Mike to let me tag along on some track days so I can hone up that skill...

Marsh, here is an old idea... A while back it was discussed by a member or two about doing a track day as part of the fall rally. It was decided at the time that it was a bad idea, but nobody said anything about the weekends preceding or following the rally. I am currently control riding/coaching with a group in Indiana on the 4th weekend of September and could easily fill in a few days riding around Kentucky if a  trackday is in order. I have yet to see the schedule but there is another track in my area that may be doing weekday events. Of course both are quite a ways from Tellico, but if there is enough interest I can look into finding a venue/event closer to the rally. As always I am more than happy to give a few pointers and riding tips while at the rally, I offered to do a riding clinic once or twice but there was no intterest during the rally itself.  Maybe its just me....

Alternately, Talladega Gran Prix (www.tgprace.com) has some pretty reasonable lease rates. http://tgprace.com/leasing.htm

It would be kind of fun to do our own FJ Owner's track day on a weekday.  Also, this place is only an hour or so from the Barber museum / racetrack.
