Could someone please set me straight on the chain and sprockets. I went to a local bike shop to see about a RWC and got told that it needs Chain and sprockets. Yeah ok what sort. Dont know it depends on how much you want to spend was the answer. Anyway I decided to research the price options on ebay. I have researched ebay to find that theres the American brands and theres the D.I.D brands. Then there were 2 prices for what appeared to be the same thing from both companies. Can some one steer me in a direction thats quite good without being to extreme. Regards Jeff.

There's numerous chain/sprocket threads on here, but the bottom line is:

Spend what ever it costs to buy a quality chain such as the DID ZVM or EK ZZZ, and don't use aluminum rear sprockets.

With good care, they last a long time, and you won't have to revisit this anytime soon.

Jeff, there are not to many choices once you have decided what chain you want.

You can tailor many things on a bike to suit the budget but I don't believe chains are one of them.

You've got a heavy bike making a reasonable amount of power. It's not only about longevity but safety as well.

You want an X ring chain in one of the brands Not a Lib listed below. They are expensive, sprockets are not.

Pretty much everyone here will advise you against cheapskating on a chain.

Personally I don't like clipped joining links, I prefer a riveted one. A bit more hassle getting it joined but worth it.

You NEVER want to break a chain.

A good quality chain should give you around 80,000k's, although there are a lot of variables.

Has anyone ever bought chain and sprocket off eBay. By that I'm mean really good quality that's been tried and tested from a reputable site. Got a quote last week for $430 supply only. Didnt know if thats ok as ebays best quality is about $330 delivered. I've never bought them before.
