Taller Windscreen

I have been looking at some taller windscreens and notice they are not predrilled. I think it's just a matter of lining it up on the fairing, mark the holes and drill.... is that all there is to it?  Just curious if anyone else has done this, or can recommend a certain brand or style? I'm not tall so I should not need anything super high but would like to get the wind off me for those highway rides. It's getting cool up here :)

use a special grinding bit, a regular drill bit will crack it.

IIRC some windscreens come with the bit.

Does the 1" make a big difference? I was looking at this one but the price is more than double...

TRoy, as usual, is correctamundo. Buy a Acrylic drill bit or you're asking for grief.

How effective a taller windscreen depends on how tall are you?
I'm 6'3" and I *had* a +4" windscreen on my FJ which caused buffeting at my helmet, just above the visor.
I removed it. It's much more comfortable for me to be in clean air with a quiet helmet (Arai) and earplugs.
By scrunching down I determined that if I were under 6' my head would have been in still air...

The taller windscreen looked kinda goofy.
If I had ordered a blue tint, it would have been a dead ringer for Marge Simpson's hairdo.
The compound curve of the oem '84 windscreen is beautimus...

Thanks Pat... I'm only 5'6" so I definitely will not need the tallest windscreen :)

I have an Eagle Screen.  I purchased it new about 1 1/2 ago, and I am very happy with the shield.  It keeps the wind right at my helmet shield (I am 5'5") and if i duck or move back a bit I can stay out of the wind.  It is a perfect fit.  Sorry I can't remember what I paid for it, but it was worth every penny.

Are the eagle screens pre-drilled, and do you have any pics of the touring screen?  The gustafsson touring screen looks nice, but having to drill it leaves me cold.  I know one would use an acrylic drill to make the mounting holes, but I wanted the dark smoke screen, and I could see lining up the holes could turn into a royal pain in the ass.  And the way I see it, if dude (mr gustafsson or whoever runs the shop there) has the forms for the screens, why can't they pre drill them and charge $40 more?  You trip over aftermarket screens in standard height, and everyone I've seen is pre drilled.  And if I have to pay $100+ for an un-drilled screen (and risk the possibility of screwing it up) I'd rather pay $50 more for a pre-drilled one and not have to worry.  Just my 2 rupees.

After roaming their site I see that their screens come pre drilled.  Guess I'll be ordering a screen from OZ...

Yes, they are pre-drilled, and it fits like a glove.  You can see pics of mine on my web page.   I think I paid $135-150 with shipping on mine.  Your bike comes with more shield choices than my year model.  I would drop them a line and ask for pics and any clarification you may need.  I was very happy with my transaction with this company, and I would definitely do business with them again.
