I just fingered it out!

It's due to the current fluctuations and spikes ....from the solenoid !!!    Yea, that's it.... (popcorn)

I'm going to assume that all of you having issues with the Dyna units are still using the stock flux capacitors...

Seriously 'thou...didn't I read somewhere about where Dyna is supposed to be coming out with the "new and improved" version of the Dyna2000?

I remember reading it on the Internet so it must be true.....

Where the heck is Dean when I [need] him?  :-)
...

That's a great idea Dave, we should bring Deano in on this!  If he can't solve it who can?

Just as an addition, i"ve had a Dyna unit fitted to my XJR. This is the second one after the first went t*ts up. It had the same problems, dropping onto two then failing altogether until it cooled down. I tried placing it in the breeze and even adding a cooling fan but nothing worked.
I've been told by some clued up folk that the unit uses components that cant cope with much over 12v and even though the XJR is a newer beast than the FJ the voltage can be all over the place.
If you think the replacement cost is high in the states, when my unit failed I went back to the supplier who just said I could buy another for £325 (best part of $500) and told me it was my mistake as Dyna never fail.
