The 86 FJ1200 I bought in 87 and later sold is now mine again. Small world.
For sport touring what tires work well. Radials or not, maybe metzler? Seems like that was what I ran 25 years ago.

Thanks for the help.

Get em' guys, he opened up another tire thread....

Welcome dude, don't know your name, but you can run the Avon's AV45/46 if you want radials, a few others will work. But you can upgrade to 17" and have a plethora of choices with much better rubber. Grab a cup 'O' Joe or beer and use the search function, you will find out that 16" sucks and 17" rule. Welcome to the club that is in the Kookaloo zone. Tell us more about you... I am also known as the Red Power Ranger... And a convert to 17" wheels front and back.... We also like pictures, mostly of the bike, but if you have anything interesting then share away... No Porn unless its FJ or motorcycle Porn.... Use the search function first, then ask questions. Welcome to the nut house...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I was happy with the Avon Azero when I was sporting 16's.

Don't beat me up guys. I tried the search function and couldn't get it narrowed down to get any answers. Not in the cards now to switch to 17" wheels. I bought the bike barely used in 87 and years later sold it to my stepson. Bought it back when he had money troubles and sold it back to him when he recovered. Now he is into enduros and the bike has sat for 5 years. I just made him and offer he couldn't refuse and went down to CA and picked it up again. It is a lirrle rough as he has had it down twice I believe. I am going to make it look and run like new. I was aking about tires so I can watch for a sale and get them before I am ready for them.

I will check the help section and see how this forum posts pictures.

Thanks

Before I switched to 17" I ran the Avon AV45/46 radial combination. For 16" they were a real good tire for me. Another member Mike with a very stock 86' likes the Pirelli Diablos, not radial but they seem to be good tire for 16".
