Just mastered the scribbling on the walls of tyres. Now attention focused on the gobble-d-gook on bearings. Being the lucky fellow who won the YZF rear wheel and then in the same breath, picked up a 17'' front from a 90 Fj from John in Vancouver - I guess it's wise to replace all bearings unless there's a sure fire way to test them before installation.
Is there a generic quality bearing vendor??
The front says:
koyo CR MHSA22 427 18
The speedo drive side has all manner of weird looking plastic seals???

The rear says:
SD 28 47 7-1 W5
Koyo 362 6204RS
and on the cush drive: koyo 6206RS

I'm guessing these are all part numbers rather than any measurement clues?

I'm not going to be a big help here with part numbers, etc...but I took my FZR1000 rear wheel and FJ front wheel to a local (kinda hole in the wall-ish) MC shop and they had the proper sealed bearings in stock and pressed them in for me (they looked them up themself and cross matched to superior sealed bearings for me) - for a really good price too!  Cheaper than I could order the bearings online (I think they only charged me $10.00 a wheel to remove the old bearings and press in the new).  So I would suggest you check with a local MC shop first before getting too involved in the process... save yourself some time, money and headache!

On the rear wheel you are looking at a 6204-rs bearing (20mm ID 47mm OD and 14mm thick with a single radial seal. I would use the more common 6204-2rs. the cush drive is a 6206 (30 x 62 x 16) and I would go with a 6206-2rs.

These are available from any bearing supply house for less than 8-10 bucks each. Unless they are damaged I usually re-use the seals on street bikes.

Don't forget to "gently" pry one of the seals off and add some extra grease.  All the sealed bearings I've seen barely had enough grease in them to prevent rust.

CBR Bearings (hopefully in the vender links section) can decode seal numbers and usually supply a replacement.  They have bearings also, obviously.

All you have to do is call CBR Bearing and tell them what wheels you have and for what year.  They have all the part numbers and will send you kits with the bearings and seals.

They use very high quality bearings, packed in synthetic grease and are double sealed.  They even have the steering head bearings if you need them.

You'll pay a little extra for them, but as far as I'm concerned they very much worth it.  Friendly helpful service.

And that's where I think I messed up at. I followed someone's advice and picked up new bearings, took the wheel to my local shop that takes great care of silly stuff for me and they told me that the bearings wouldn't fit my yzf600 wheel. But they also said the bearings that were in it were ok, so I've been riding it like that for oh....a year at least. I still have those bearings, will bring them with me to the rally if anyone is looking for some, they aren't doing me any good.

Got a set for my front wheel a year or two ago.  He hooked me up with some high quality japanese bearings, and only charged $2 for shipping.  You can get a cheapo chinese bearing online for $2, then they charge you $11 for shipping.  

Go with Charlie.  He was recommended by someone in the group.  Excellent service.
