Well the state of Wisconsin just put a stop to my resurrecting the 87..  I had the Vin. checked by a sheriff friend. Before I started. And he said It didn't come back stolen or anything. said the last thing that showed up was when it was shipped to the dealership in brookfield. In late 87. So I started getting the parts. Got everything except the GSXR front wheel. I figured I had better get started with the paperwork. So I called DMV. Got transferred around and finally ended up with the
tittle research department. And she tells me even though t doesn't show that it was "junked" because it was once owned by a junk yard. It can't be retitled at all. Now I have to find a frame with a good title, hopefully cheap.
Bugger!!!
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

You need to sell it to someone (you trust) who lives in a state that don't do that. My state and many others will reg and re title that bike. Then they sell it back to you, it doesn't even need to leave the your garage.

I also have a 84 frame with title  but its a compleate bike that I would have to strip and its been sitting in a barn for 8 years.
Not in the best shape it had some mice living in it under the fairing next to the carbs.

$850 takes the whole bike.

I have an 86 frame with registration , can't remember which state.  Yours for shipping cost.  Not sure how costly it would be as I'm in Canada.

It is a US registered frame.  I don't remember the state.  I'll try to get down to where its stored today to check it out.

The registration is from Illinois. Its been in an unheated shed for a couple years and could use a repaint.  Has headlight frame attached(may be a little bent), no lower frame rails.

Thanks Derek. I just looked up the distance from you to me 2165 miles. I have never had anything shipped from Canada. I would think it would cost a bunch to ship here (54937) WI?

Hello....  Been away for a bit and just caught this thread.

I would love to see the extenders with pinch bolts if you have any shots of them.  The Cycle One Offs do get the job done - same approach that Dixie took - but I don't feel totally secure with the set screw only and no real "grab" on the fork tubes.  I wonder if the front doesn't flex a bit because of this less than tight connection.  Anywho, I would feel safer with a better set. Getting them threaded into the for top would be awesome but they would have to have all the functionality of the OEM fork top and the underside of those would be a challenge to reproduce.  So for me the pinch bolt fork extenders are the best option and hopefully some day I'll have a set!

Regarding the title issue- I find that I get a different result with a different person at the counter sometimes. Bob W is on the right path here, figure out what state is a little more reasonable about these things and seek out a wiling board member to make it happen for you.

Get some pics on here Giant- lets see these beasts!

Cheers all!

Think a little differently and use the stuff the cruiser & chopper dudes have already made or
Google up a search for something like "Fork Cap Extender" and you'll get heaps of good hits.

Here is a picture of a stock fork cap alongside a 1 1/2" extension.
