I went and got 2 K&N black filters, model KN-202

a man of excellent taste, I went with the black K&N 202 as well but I got mine from my local Repco store.
I have kleptomania,
but when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Put me down as another potential oil filter modder.  I ordered the kit last week, can't wait till it's here and I can do an oil change... hmmm Randy, do you have shares in any of the oil companies by any chance?

motohorseman

I bought the CarQuest filters, they're white, they go with my cowling and that's my story and I'm sticking too it.

Back on track - finished work and decided to install the oil filter adapter.

Removed old filter housing assembly -

As I just changed the o-ring, decided to re-use it.

Adapter installed - I did use blue loctite as the bolt went on fine finger tight -

Torqued to 25ft/lbs, easy as can be.

Installed filter

and lower cowl, had to "frankenstein" it a bit....

Here you can see the stitches in the lower cowl....

No leaks on initial testing - looking forward to no snow/better weather for a real test ride.

I did fill the filter as much as possible, prior to installing, and added a small amount to the crankcase to level it back off after the test run.

I'm happy so far, thank's everyone -especially Randy!

Great timing and awesome pictures.  My kit arrived yesterday, hopefully will have time this weekend to install it :)

The white filter looks cool on your bike and differentiates if from others. What more do you want from a quick modification?

European owners will like to know that Hi-Flow 202 it is the same model. The oil filter list at Randy web is available to US owners, but I canĀ“t obtain any of them in Spain

I had to do the same thing to my lower cowl, as mine broke in the exact same spot as yours..........I'm guessing a prior clutch slave leak while in the hands of the PO was the root cause.

All good, no leaks etc?

I put my oil filter mod on a couple of weeks  ago and have just drained the new oil today to start on Randys Oil Cooler Mod installation. I'm re-using the same oil though, still nice and golden colour,

Yeah, I am loving this mod. Better choice of oil filters than that little POS paper cartridge that goes into the case. No bolts to remove and no chance of pinching that wire under the filter housing.

Plus, it looks great.

No leaks, only issue was it seems to hold more oil -

I passed a couple Harley's at speed and the oil light was on - that always gets my attention!

Added a little oil, all is well.
