Pain is real aint it? I always say its a blessing to be able to feel the pain.... especially considering what could have been.

What were you doing, RCR or RVR check?  I did a little time as AF Manager along my career path ran Base Ops/TA and retired as a fight chief with the 124th Aerial Port. Up in Alaska we used an old SAAB for runway/taxiway checks. Trivia... Glad to see you up and well with a smile. Thoughts are with you, if you need something that we can do from over here let us know... Maybe we can send the "OZ" gang up your way they seem to be a cheery lot

Actually the Hungarian recovery ward must be the only place that does not allow you to receive a blanket when you tell them you are cold and ask for one!

I was recovering in a German hospital after a wreck in `96, and complained to the nurse about the intensity of a constant, burning pain in my leg. She consulted Herr Doktor, who sent her back with some sort of analgesic SUPPOSITORY!



It worked, of course, but I clearly received the message that I was being a pain in THEIR ass!

Those doors are typically pretty large and heavy. But heck it sounded like a good idea.... Next time use more cables and stand back further... )
Well I am glad you are with us and healing. Made a few marginal judgements myself. One time it was referred to as "corporate experience". I ended up with a lot of it...
I see they pulled the "trake" and that is good. I know more about "trakes" than I ever needed to know. Not me, but a family member that's been on one for the last year.

While over in Italy they briefed us that if we had a "significant" medical problem to try our best to get back to the base, because the Italian medical system had a different approach when it came to pain management. I didn't want to find out.

All I can recommend is close your eyes listen to some Jimmy Buffet music think about palm tree's, clear blue water, white sandy beach's with a cool drink. Take a mental vacation........

Keep that X-ray handy when you travel. You will need it to explain why you set off the metal detector. It is truly amazing how much damage our bodies can take and how well the medical field is in putting them back together. Did you finally get your blanket?
