Wind noise

I rode with the Eagle tour screen on my '89, until it's recent forced removal by mother earth.  :negative: I now, due to the generous nature of Henry at the WCR, have a stock screen. I immediately noticed that I experience less buffeting, but more noise, as the wind is now hitting my chest and collar. I ride with ear plugs anytime I will be out longer than 10 minutes at a time. They take care of the noise and at highway speeds the extra air on my chest takes some pressure off the wrists.

Thanks, but I already tried that, and even though it says they are in stock, when a color choise is chosen, it says they are out of stock and will be put on back order.

Hey Leon,

I believe I dealt with the same thing back then... IIRC They order it right out of Germany and then ship it to the purchaser...

I waited 6-8 weeks ... I think(?)... But, I think it is because they do not stock them... When they get an order they order it to be made...

I did get what I paid for, though....  :)

OK thanks Paul.
I guess this is S.O.P. that the world has come to.
The dealership I work at is much the same way, they don't stock a damn thing, but "we can get it  tomorrow if we order by 4pm today"!

I like the idea of a whle screen replacement instead of attaching something else onto my srceen.

I take it that you were happy with their service and the screen was a worthwhile purchace?

Thanks again,
Leon

Yes, happy with both...

I appreciate it most during cooler , or wet weather!  Last year I rode quite a bit through the winter as it was pretty mild here... If the lip is folded down, it is the same as the tourer screen.

If you just want to eliminate the wind noise only, I would try as much as you can to compare different options... Like no windscreen, or stock screen, or borrow a 'tourer' if you can etc, etc,...to see what works best for you... Before you buy...

:)

With my current screen, the wind hits me mid helmet, right in the face.
I'm looking to shoot the airstream up and over my helmet.
Right now, it is very noisy and alot of buffeting.
Just been putting up with it the past couple of years and I'm ready to change things up to improve the ride quality.

Thanks,
Leon

With my setup, and the rear of the bike raised a bit, and I have the 'lip' up, I may have wind touch the top of my helmet.... But not enough to really notice it. I can ride 80mph + with my visor open on my helmet.... When I lower the lip, I can't.
My wife prefers the 'lip' up when she is on the back, as well...as she gets less buffeting.

I'll get a couple of comparison pics of each and post them when I get a chance later today... :).

That's just it, I can't ride much over 30mph with my visor up.
This screen seems like it might be what I've been looking for.
Thanks for the pictures.
I'm 5"10" and my FJ has been raised up in the rear.
I hope this will still work with this screen.

1991 FJ with MRA Vario Touring Windscreen with the lip adjusted to the most upright setting.

1992 with the lip adjusted down flat.  (the rear is raised in this pic....  and handlebars have risers)

the following pics are closeups of adjustments, construction etc.... guess I have to clean the bugs off

Thanks for the pictures Paul!
Outstanding!
This is the first time I have seen this screen installed on an FJ.
The Dark blue on that 91 looks very nice!

I never realized that that screen had such a tall lip on its rear edge.
The pictures online make it look flat (at least the ones I have seen).

I also have the bar risers, so I should be very close to your set-up.
I think these pictures were enough to make up my mind!

Thanks so much!
