I just had my daughter come into my room and wake me up to tell me my bike is laying on the neighbours car .

It`s been blown over in the wind thats appeared from nowhere . I`ve got a givi box on the back and with the stormex cover on it`s really high sided and I guess the wind has hit the side of it like a kite and pushed it over into the neighbours car .

My screen is smashed , near side screen strut is snapped but repairable ,and its too dark to see anything else .

I washed , polished , and put a new seat cover on today and it was looking gorgeous , and now this .

Awww shit - I dunno where you are in the UK (profile doesn't say) but we got the start of the gales up here in Aberdeenshire.

My bike is outside (no garage) and has the cover over it, with loads of bungees to stop it flapping about.  It's a difficult choice to leave the cover on and take a chance that it doesn't act like a sail, or remove it and leave the bike open.

With a high touring screen fitted, the bike can act like a sail without the cover!

I occasionly check the wind direction, and as it gets worse, I would have to keep turning the bike to face into the wind.

As a last resort, I'm gonna have to push the bike right up to the side wall of the house so the front wheel is hard against it - so it can't blow forward off the stand.

I am SO sorry to hear about the damage report.  These guys who have garages and secure lock ups are very lucky!  They get to have nice shiny bikes and keep them dry and out of the elements.

Thanks mate ,
I`m in Norfolk . I had a high screen and a top box on . It was on the side stand and the wind has lifted it right over onto the near side and its just hit the deck . It`s a shame the neighbours car was there because it got crash bars on and It would prob hit the bar end and top box . Oh well , coulda , woulda , shoulda . It didnt land on the car it looks as though the screen just clipped the bumper on the way over ..I`ve ordered a new screen already , £80 . Need that at this time of yeah huh . I can`t get my bike into my garden , I live in a weird place on the top of a bank . if you come out of my house onto the pavement there the is a sheer drop of about 3 feet down to the road , I can come up the pavement BUT there are a set of bars outside my gate to stop people accidentally falling down the bank so I cant turn the bike into the garden. It`s really annoying as I have a big shed out back that would take the bike no worries . Oh well these things are sent to try us !

Yes..and try us they shall!

Frequently!

Don't suppose you'd get away with a portable oxy acet and cut the bollards off.

I mean, I'm fine with people falling down a bank, if it means you get the bike to the house.

People will only fall down it once y'know.  Then they know about it for the next time.  Nah....priorities.  1) BIKE.  2) SHED.  Stuff the public.

Sorry man. I am trying to send you some good karma by telepathic means. Hope you can feel it and put it to good use. It doesn't make it any easier but this to will pass. Its all fixable. Hang in there.

Thats a bummer!! Just be glad you dont live this side of the county in the Fens, flat as a pancake and the wind really picks up.  Mine was tucked up in the garage so all is well, but be advised sunday looks like another blowy one, sounds like overkill but maybe screw a couple of eyelets into the wall of the house and run some rope around it? :hang1:

The picture you put before up looks like you have a carport or drive next to the house, couldnt you tuck it close to the house, it will help break up the wind a bit!
A life has been well lived, if you have planted trees under who's shade you do not expect to sit.

I'm told I'm cynical, pessimistic and generally miserable. I say that I'm realistic! The fact that reality sucks is not my fault!
