That's a great idea Arnie, thank you! :good2:

I too have Oxford heated grips and I love them, except for the hard grips. On long multi day rides I get an occasional pressure sores on my palms...
i know, I know, loose hands...wiggle the elbows, etc, etc. I have some glove inner liners used for dirt bike riding that helps with the abrasions.

Arnie, did you use any glue between the Oxford and foam?

No, I just used dish soap and water to get them on over the bar-end and grip-end ridge.  Once the water evaporates, they are fixed securely.  These are thin foam ~1/8" so the grip heat comes  through as well.
They don't last too long though and I have to replace them about once a year. :-/
That's about when the foam stiffens anyhow.

I just want to ask before I will buy.

This one on ebay: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/NEW-Sound-Off-Recreational-MCVICO-Vista-Cruise-Control-Throttle-Lock-/370988145971?hash=item56609ddd33:m:mvuOxfRc8pLXT0O66Wj8Mww

Will it fit to my 91' FJ1200?

That's the one I have had on the '92 for a few years now, works fine for me. Of course it really is only for flat roads, but flick on/off when needed, simple and works a treat.

For those that have just fitted or considering fitting Oxford heated grips, you will love them and can expect a great life from them.

These are my Oxford grips after 100,000kms and 6 or 7 Winters. They still work perfectly.

You will find you use them way more than you think. Rather than just using them to stop your hands freezing, they become a comfort thing. The sensation is pleasant even when it's not terribly cold. I recently did 4000km over a week and never had them off once, just altered the temp accordingly.

And for those discussing throttle locks, this Vista cruise has done 130,000km since I've had it and was already on the bike when I got it.
I particularly like the speed at which it can be engaged and disengaged. I have a number of things on my bike that can only be done with my right hand and use it at least a dozen times a day. Oddly though, I rarely use it for its intended purpose, hand relief.

It does require a turn on the adjusting screw every few months, but so what, it takes less time to do that than it does to engage the friction throttle lock on the BMW, every time you want to use it, consequently, I never use it.

I also like the simplicity of the Go Cruise, even if it does look a bit odd. Not that you would see it when riding.

I'll second George's (movenon) comments.  I have a basic Vista-Cruise fitted, and am constantly trying to adjust it.  It will hold a speed briefly, but then slows down.  The reason I haven't tossed it in the corner is that it gives me time to roll the Cat O-Ring up which holds just fine.

Arnie

Arnie, you do know there is a recessed screw on the underside (or the topside, depending how you mount it) for adjusting the tension?

Yes, I know about the tension adjustment screw.
If I tighten it enough that it holds the setting, it drags when "off".
If it is just loose enough to not drag, then it doesn't hold the setting.
To be fair, it does hold the set for a few minutes before slowly slowing.

The Cat O-Ring holds the throttle set, and is completely out of the way when rolled "off".

I do recall "scoring" the friction surfaces not long after I got so it would bite better for the same amount of pressure.
