Baldy,

Wasn't that the "R" model (semi-copy FJ) you were riding?  Still, not good to have it and you damaged.
Did the otherwise occupied twit appologize?  And more important, have insurance?

Heal soon,

Arnie
Yes Arnie was the newer version of the FJ lol but it should be fixable  :good2:

Sorry to hear that Baldy....  :(    :empathy2:  Hopefully there is enough insurance to get you back into another FJ - if not - I do know of an FJ fairly close to me (down the hall in my garage actually) that we could always have shipped over to ya...
:rofl2: Thanks Marsh but if I do that I won't have something there for next yr, besides my insurance will cover repairs & if they don't I'll buy the wreck back and do the repairs myself

I am very lucky the General has offered me one of his FJ's for a couple of weeks so will be on the move again shortly, not having all those mod cons on the bike will be a little hard to get use too but after the US this yr won't take long  :yahoo:

Heya Baldy..I have not yet had the pleasure but I am bummed about your little tumble. I am glad to hear you are ok even if the girl sustained a few knocks. I do hope to have the pleasure of having a few cold ones with you. I must say it would be very cool if monkey man could swing it...at least he could be my translater. When I first heard of you dropping from the bike...well the first thing that went through my mind was Bundy the bear and how odd it was to practise your dropping from the bike...and then I thought...hmmmmm see those auzzies are tough like us Canucks and will do anything to get ready for the real thing. Kudos  :drinks: and here's to taking that drop on a better target then a sleeping sheila......get well and get her back on the road soon

Never regret your choices in life ! There is no way to go back to do it again and compare. Make the most and do your best with every decision you make

Jeezuz Doug, didn't know this had hapenned to you, bloody idiots that can't obey road rules     ,

At least the bike can be repaired and you're ok, (that why you ALWAYS say wear ALL of your gear, ALL of the time.) You've told me often enough,  :good2:

Now, I've just booked the Fri-Sat nite at Bellingen,  and before then I should have the FJ ready. On the weekend the rear valve stem started leaking, not the valve but the rubber stem. Moved it about a bit then BANG off it flew. Mini explosion right next to my head. Since the tyre came with the Suzuki rear wheel a few years ago, both the tyre and the stem are probably way past their use by date. Time for a new rear, (Dunlop RoadSmart II I think), plus a new chain.
Also have a small list of things to get from Randy very soon, --

Spin on Filter
Fork Brace
Oil Cooler Mod

Time to spend some money on my baby  :good2:

Look forward to the ride down and the whole weekend!

Dam Thats a bloody wonder it hasn't gone before this lol

Spin on Filter- Yes very good idea

Fork Brace-- mmmmmm nope, Instead you should get the vibranators, springs and valves money much better spent, put the springs on the bike in the US on the 2nd day of the WCR (unbelievably good) much better then the Race Tech and gold valves, Vibranators went on before the trip back from Colarado ..... Nice

Oil Cooler Mod- in our heat a great idea

right angle valve stems!!!

Time to spend some money on my baby  :good2:

Look forward to the ride down and the whole weekend!

Just what I needed Doug, some good opinions. I was actually tossing up about the fork brace, and thought seriously about the Vibranators, but wasn't sure actually if they worked or not. I did research the fork springs and the valves, my Progressive springs are around 7 years old now, probably not working as well as new now! Mmmm, might adjust my order a bit. The right angle valve stems will be going on with the new tyre,  :good2:

Bugger!!! I am guessing that is more than twice the book value of your bike. How much repair can you (or a mate) do on your own to cut the cost down?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Well, that just sucks.  What will you do now?  I assume the woman who hit you had insurance and it will pay you -yes?

Will the insurance companies down your way let you buy the 'wreck' back after paying you for the total loss? Is it possible/ (practical?) to fix it and re-certify it so it's no longer considered a wreck?  This can all be done in the US, and is easier or harder depending depending on the state you live in.

Again, count your lucky stars that it's just the bike that needs that much work, so, you got THAT going for you at least...

Dan

Live hardy, or go home.

Monkey the bike is 2005 FJR which is insured for $14000 so its fixable, have just had word they will repair the bike, the shop has said will also fix the suspension so it will have all all the good gear in it again, so that $7,800 is going to go up to the tune of another grand lolol!!!  :gamer: :yahoo:

Thanks for the good news Baldy, that explains the value of the damage, I was thinking it was an FJ not a newer FJR. Do you think the other driver will ever get her hearing back????
