3.5 front wheel options for a 1993 fj1200?

Would anyone know if there are other wheels which match the front end and style (curved spokes) that would bolt on to a 1993 FJ1200?  I have seen the 1987-88 FZR750 is the same but I cannot find any in the states or canada.  Interested to know if there are other styles from other manufacturers that would be the same size or interchangeable.  Do not want to change the forks unless absolutely necessary.  Any help would be appreciated.  Almost finished collecting parts to swap the GSX-R 5.5 rear wheel and would like to do both ends if possible. Does the GSX-R 750 and 1100 front rims fit also?

I have an 87/88 FZR1000 front wheel with some cosmetic issues.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Thanks FJmonkey, do you know what other parts I would need to make it work for me or what work needs to be done?  Is there calipers on the rim you have or do the FJ caliper/brakes work/speedometer, spacers, etc?  How much do you want for it?

The wheel has rotors but they are under spec. It will need new bearings and the tabbed washer that drives the stock FJ speedo hub. You will not need any spacers, but I think you will need new calipers, rotors, new tire, bearings, tabbed washer for hub and I recommend new brake lines if yours are OEM. I also recommend getting new bolts for the rotors, SST looks better and they don't rust. It is an easy bolt on modification. I will PM you with some picks of the cosmetic issues and I will also make sure the wheel is straight.

Your '93's rotors and existing calipers will work just fine with the '87/88 FZR wheel. No need to change unless you want the superior R-1 blue spot calipers which bolt right up to your '93 fork legs.
Mark is spot on...Do change your rubber brake lines ASAP. They are long over due for replacement.

Careful there, Pat.

I think the '93 ABS rotors have a larger hub diameter (bolt circle) than the non-ABS model.  The diameter is more like the older model rotor hub diameter.

Acdording to Wikipedia, ABS was optional on FJ1200:
91-93 U.S.
91-96 U.K.
Unfortunately, I do not have ABS on my 93.

In my opinion, you are fortunate that you do not have ABS. It makes modifications easier.
Therefore, you're good to go with your stock rotors and calipers with the FZR rim.

I have ridden a '92 with full functioning ABS with ss lines and good brake pads, and I was not impressed.

In the US, ABS was optional in '92 and standard on all '93 models.

Not having ridden an ABS bike, I was doing some investigating on my own and the consensus seemed to be that the people, in general, were not using the brake correctly.  From what I read, they said that the riders were continuing to try and modulate the brakes in a panic situation (although qualified riders can do almost as well), they should have just grabbed the handle and squeezed hard letting the ABS brakes do its work.  I have always heard that the best of riders can outperform the ABS but for the rest of us, it sounded like good advice to me.  Probably would depend a lot on how well maintained your ABS system was also.  When I first got it on a truck, I took it into an empty parking lot and just tried them to see and to get a little experience on how they worked.  What has been the downfall of the ABS system on the FJ1200? Curious to know.

My bike is a non-ABS 1993 from Canada.  Maybe they use the same as the U.K.

There are metal putties that can fill this in and still allow powder coating. I was researching this when I found another cleaner wheel and avoided the hassle. Or find a good TIG welder and fill it in with real aluminum. If still interested let me know. I forgot the dial indicator at work so I might check it tomorrow night or after the Napa rally.
