Im looking to buy a 1988 fj1200.
This bike runs but needs the carbs rebuilt and ive been quoted $500.00 to rebuild carbs.
Are there new carbs available for this bike or is it as easy as me unbolting carbs and sending to somebody to rebuild?
Yes im a a newbie so id appreciate any help at robwi@sympatico.ca

Unbolt and send to Randy @ RPM

That is just what I did this spring and found it to be the right thing to do with great results.

The exact same model that was offered in the United States as an 1989, was sold in the UK as an 1988.

Correct.  But there are apparently also some '87s running around Europe also papered as '88s.    :unknown:
