Hello all...im on my 3rd FJ and just found this forum!! Started out with an 85 1100 project bike that never came to fruition...years later and several other bikes, i finally got my first ridable FJ in the form of an all stock 89 FJ1200...then i found my baby...89 FJ1200 er FJ1300...well its modified a bit. 1314 Wiesco kit, 38mm RS Mikunis, K&N filters, Dyna 2000, port/polished head, Megacycle cams, valves and springs, shift kit, Vance and Hines SS2-R, ZX7 wheels (polished), braided cluth and brake lines, ZX6 6 piston front calipers w/7r rotors, 190/55/17 rear tire with stock swingarm (id have to use a feeler guage to measure tire clearance), R6 4 piston rear caliper w/zx7r rotor. Supposed to be 160 wheel horsepower, i havent had it tested...all i know its it way faster than anyone really needs! Im thinkin about changin gears back to stock or close...its got a 520 conversion on it with a 48 tooth rear makes it revvy even at 60mph. Well anyway...glad to be here and i look forward to reading about all the other FJs out there.

Drop it down 5, he said "520".... Maybe he likes the snap sound it makes (about 2 milliseconds) just before the major GRUNK!!!! as it wads up around the front sprocket and does terrible things to the case.....

A 520? Prolly 'cause of the 190 tire. Welcome laddie! Do keep a eye on that chain.
What our beloved Power Ranger FJ Monkey man said is very true....very true, like put money on it.

Cheers!

Well thanks all. As far as the bike goes..I bought it the way it is. What chain should I be running? 530? As I said it's geared too low as is anyway so I will be changing it. Would like to extend/modify the swingarm if anyone has suggestions I would be most grateful. I'll get a couple pics up soon.

Not sure if a VFR offset sprocket will push a 530 chain out far enough to clear a 590 rear. An XJR shaft will do the trick if the rear sprocket still fits and clears the swing arm....
