No need to bring tents - we have two and can borrow another if need be. If the weather remains like it is now, then sleeping outside will be a total pleasure.
Andy
Ok, sleeping bag, a cheap air mattress, a few days of clothes, packing light.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Renegade riders - here's some routes for your consideration. Type these into google maps and you'll see what I'm talking about:

Option 1 - Napa - lake hennessey - pope valley - middletown - healdsburg - stewards point (return)
Napa to lake hen. is fairly curvy, but things really get going along pope valley toward middletown. New surface on the 29 coming down to calistoga is exciting, then alex vally to healdsburg keeps on giving. Nice deli in Healdsburg for lunch. Then skaggs springs awaits and we know all about that. Home reverse.
Total distance 268miles but we can cut 50 off that if you stick to the fast bits of skaggs and not go all the way to the coast.

Option 2  Napa - healdsburg - skaggs - coast - 128 all the way home.
A direct route to healdsburg has us on skaggs in about a hour after leaving Napa. heading up the coast you get some nice scenery, the road is bendy, but u usually get traffic and it's slow through the coastal towns. Back home on the 128, which is terrific if memory serves me well.
Total distance 265

Option 3 Napa - healdsburg - skaggs - coast (but head south this time) - guernville (116) Napa.
get the goods at skaggs - secnery of the 1 - the 116 is pretty tasty - home in plenty of time.
Total dist - 191

So have a think. check out google. I think option 1 is the most satisfying. If we had 2 days I'd say pull in the 20 up north - but that's just to much for a mini rally - unless you think otherwise.

Of these, I like option #1.  But a nice stretch of northern hwy 1 would be a treat...

Another option might be Napa through Alex valley to Healdsburg, up Dry Creek valley and out at the north end (Lytton Springs Rd) to Cloverdale and hwy 128 (Andy's right... this is a very fun road with hundreds of turns per mile and in pretty good shape last time I was up there).  Along 128 there's a great brewpub called Anderson Valley Brewing Company...  cool quirky place in a little town that has its own language (Boontling)...  Anyway, continue out 128 to Mendocino and some of the most spectacular CA coastline you'll find anywhere.  Then head south on hwy1 to 116 and back to Napa.  Similar to option #1 in miles I think and incorporates 128/AVBC for an excellent lunch stop.  Also a great stop in Jenner if we want to take one last break at the coast before heading back to Napa.

I'm fine with any route up there.  I'm surprised you didn't have any options including Lake Berryessa...  although this is a much better weekday ride due to traffic concerns.

Going to be fun...  I can hardly wait!  :bye2:

And one other thing...  the optional ride Sunday morning is something like 92 to 35 to 84 to 1 to 9 to Saratoga.  35/84 intersection is Alice's and a couple hundred bikes on a Sunday morning.  Really excellent 3-4 hours of riding with a cool breakfast stop about mid-way through.  I'll do this anyway, so any and all are welcome to join.  We can talk details on Sat if there is interest.

Alright...

It is not very often that I must call for assistance, but my crazy work schedule has allow an important date to pass without acknowledgement and I am asking for all Renegade attendees for a little help.

As many of you know I have a full time job besides running my shop and website. I work a great rotating schedule that allows me to be able to do both. The issue is, for the close to last two years I have been on graveyard, working 8pm to 7am. So, I work two calendar dates daily and I sleep during the day is I am not required to stay over to work overtime. For the past 4-5 weeks I have been required to work an average of 60 hours in my normally 44 hour, 4 day work week. My days run together just by sundown and sun-up. :wacko3:

So, last night I had a little down time and was getting caught up on paperwork. It was about midnight October 3rd changing to the 4th...

October 4th...why is that day sticking out in my mind, did I forget something... :dash1:

Ahh, shit my wedding anniversary was the 3rd. I get logged onto my phone and hoping the clock on the computer was fast and I was too late. :ireful: I send a text at 12:03 to my wife telling her happy anniversary; no reply. Oh boy I'm in the doghouse now because she usually replaces to a call or text from me anytime of the night.

So, if I can call on the attendees to do me a huge favor. I know everyone will be riding in, so hopefully it will work out. I hope each of you could bring with you a flower, any flower, I would greatly appreciate it.

A real flower, gas station fabric flower, it really doesn't matter, but I think the gesture will help the cause.

Don't worry, this is not the end of the relationship and/or the means to keep it from ending, we have been married for 26 years and including high school this is truly our 30th year together.

We look forward to seeing everyone Saturday morning and enjoying the weekend.

Thanks, Randy - RPM

Alright...

BULLSHIT!  :diablo:

Fancy gettin ya mates to try and cover up a truly major fault in your priorities.  :empathy3:
A flower from ya mates - a pissey flower or two, ya pansy.

Get off ya arse, hang up the phone and get down to the travel agent for a single two way ticket to The Gold Coast of Australia departing March 2013 so we can look after this Gem that`s put up with your ambitions for 26 years.  :bomb:

We`ll look after her. (your not invited cause you demonstrably have priorities wrong, wrong wrong - but ya can send some of ya flower mates with her). At present we have two maybe three coming from overseas. (None from UK, Spain, Africa or U.S - so far) - along with every state of Australia represented (except South Aus - but I`ll P.M. you soon) -  I`m workin with the crabs at tha moment, so will explain more after the next Rally committee meeting.

Does Mrs Raduechel enjoy relaxing in a mountain retreat, dining in one of the top 10 restaurants in Australia or perhaps a spa retreat indulgence watching the evening mist flicker against the sunset..........yeah the comittee will look after her and ya real mates (that might give her a small koala teddy bear instead of flowers, when they see her next), - They shouldn`t let ya live this down. (All will receive flowers and an FJ on arrival in Aus)  :drinks:

ARRG.  What a post to follow Craig!   I am not going to make the rally.  A few of you guys know I am deep into a construction project here and today (at like 4:58pm) the City Building Dept called to give me some not great news- the result of which is- I have to work through the weekend.   :ireful: :ireful: :ireful:

I have been pretty stressed and working some very long weeks (not as long as Randy's) and I was really looking forward to this break to get my head together and away from work.  AND- we started talking about this at the Rally this summer.....  I am bummed to miss it.  Suffice to say that in the near future perhaps we can have an Retrograde Rally and host it here on the central coast.

So sorry for the fake out and very sorry to miss you guys this weekend! - I would much rather be out bending into the corners than going back to the grind...

Randy, looks like Tim won't be bringing a flower for your wife but he opted to become one instead, a Pansy.

Next time Tim, I got your PM, I will be making a stop in your area, thanks for the recommendation on a good place for brew.... I am lugging the FJ in the truck since my Iron butt is way too rusty for that long of trip without some conditioning.  :drinks:

Hey guys , I am gonna have to bow out due to a medical condition that makes it unsafe to ride with my meds . I am totally bummed out to miss this great event that has become a norcal fj tradition of the last good ride of the year. I started this norcal rally and Andy named it . I believe this is the 4th annual renegade rally and the rides have always been epic.  I will miss you guys and hope to make next years an epic event as well.

the futon is now up for grabs.

regards to all

Gosh - life takes over Fj dreams, we're such a busy bunch. Those who can't make it will be greatly missed by those that can whether it be work, meds or female road blocks. Makes u mindful to enjoy every ride.

I have made it home from great mini-rally and already unloaded. Andy & Jen were great hosts and the weather & roads were just about perfect. That was followed up by a great BBQ dinner with great BS session around the table.

I am sorry I wasn't able to make this mornings venture, but being my anniversary weekend, I needed to hit the winery circuit today since we were in wine country.

Looking forward to the 2013 Rallies with found memories of the 2012 adventures.

Second that in a big way...  Jen and Chandra deserve a big round of thanks from the group for making Saturday night flow perfectly.  Awesome!!!  :yahoo:

I'm also home having sent Andy, Craig, and Mark back home and getting my bike cleaned up and put away.  We rode down through Marin and into SF via the Golden Gate today, lost each other and reconnected at Alice's, then enjoyed some just fabulous riding on the way to San Jose.   :good2:

Great time guys...  let's make some plans for next year.  :bye2:
