Went out for a couple of hours this evening and felt well, withe exception of a couple of things. Firstly for about the first half hour the bike felt quite skittish almost wobbly wavy when cornering at anything under 40mph, any thoughts? Not noticed it before

Also since having fitted my new fjr clutch I have experienced nothing but beautiful gear changes, however for the last few outings I have struggled to find neutral exactly when I want it.  I can feel it slotting in, but then if going down it slots into 1st if going up it slots into 2nd.  Any ideas?

First 1/2 hour you say, check the air pressure in both tires. After 1/2 a hour the air would have warmed up and the pressure increased enough to stabilize the tires in the corners. Just my $0.02.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I think That's about  1 pence this side of the pond.  Thanks monkey, will check in the morning!

Any thoughts on the neutral thing!

I've just bought an Fj12 back from the dead , well sat untouched for 4 years, had the same type of issues with the clutch, start off with wouldn't change gear at all unless moving , turned out to be stuck clutch plates from sitting so long, freed them up by putting bike in gear and rocking back and fowards, also changed master as since he owned it clutch only moved 5 mm from the bar and off you go scary ,, bleed her again  and see how you go
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

maybe try a Factory Pro, Pro Shift Kits (http://www.factorypro.com/products/shift_kit,Factory_Pro.html) or maybe randy has something similar.

I have kleptomania,
but when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Air in your clutch circuit. Bleed it again and see if that helps.  Cheers

Randy has a shift kit, got some good reviews and it's on my upgrade list.

It's the same kit. Randy installed one in my bike. It's a great addition. Snick snick smooth shifting.

Do you guys use the clutch on up shifting. I guess too many years on a dirt bike. I normally use the clutch stop/start and some down shifting(normal riding) when under hard acceleration I will slip the clutch but that is it. Your thoughts please.

I clutch it up through into 2nd, then after that it's just a roll off and clutchless up shift. I clutch on the way down, and I find it changes MUCH smoother if I blip it as I shift. Not a big one, anything over about 500rpm up from wherever it is currently works a treat. Otherwise I feel a bit of a "clunk"... Particularly into 1st.  Standard clutch componentry all round on a '92 with 140,000kms
