Went out to enjoy some Colorado mountain scenery, and backroads.............

Rode amongst the Aspens........

And the Pines.........

As well as the local wildlife......

Rode some great twisty roads, through some fabulous mountain scenery.......

A quick stop at Echo Lake at 10,500 ft, for some last pictures in the fading light......

Then followed the charcoal ribbon down through this canyon, and back out to the highway to head home.......

Ended up being about 130 mile ride. I think the old girl enjoyed it as much as I did :i_am_so_happy:

Trail Ridge Road! My old stomping grounds when I lived in Loveland. My favorite road in the world: from Loveland, up Big Thompson Canyon, through Estes, over Trail Ridge, and into Grand Lake. I'm green with envy! I love it up there just after they open the road in the spring, like when you went. Did you stop in to Idaho Springs off I-70 to stop in at Beau Jo's for pizza? That's a MUST DO. Best pizza in the world at Beau Jo's, the Idaho Springs location being the original.  Another of my faves is to take the frontage road west to Hwy 40, through Winter Park and you can make the full loop back through Granby/Grand Lake (worth a lunch stop in the town of Grand Lake) and over Trail Ridge, through Estes Park and down either the Big Thompson to Loveland or take  S. St. Vrain Dr (Hwy 7) through Allenspark, hang a right on Hwy 72 (Peak to Peak Hwy/Coal Creek Canyon Rd) through Nederland. Seeing your pics of Echo Lake, you may have come up through Evergreen. My folks live there. The ride up Mt. Evans is worth the time if you didn't go up there. Take a jacket.
You may already know of all this but since you said you moved there this spring... Cheers and love the pictures. Thanks!

Yes I did ride up through Evergreen..............And came out at Idaho Springs....I haven't been to Beau Jo's yet, but I hear it's a great place to unwind after a day in the mountains.
I do alot of jeep trails around Idaho Springs, and the members of the jeep groups I go with always rave about Beau jo's, and often stop there after a day of trail running.

The snow pictures are from last year.......They didn't get nearly as much snow up there this year, however they did close Trail Ridge rd a few times due to snow.
I haven't ridden the FJ up Mt. Evans yet either, but I did drive the family up there last June on father's Day.

Now that I found my pictures(long story) from last summer's ride through Rocky mt. national Park, I'm tempted to post up a ride report in another post.
