I have ordered and received one of these kits and plan to install it next week can't see any major dramas, but need to ask has anybody done one of these on an Fj1200.

Friend has one on his RT1100.  Said install is easy.  Just have to find a place to stick the reservoir.  He likes his, but recommends the newer unit with the electronic control, which eliminates the vacuum reservoir.

Did the electronic kit.  Kinda large to mount, ended up in the tail section, with extended throttle cable.  Too touchy on throttle response.  Disconnects too easily.  Works, but needs more attention.

Please do report back and let us know how this works after you've given it 'more attention' and you've used it in anger a bit.  $115 seems cheap for such a thing.

Heard that some autozones were letting them go for about $35 when the electronic versions came out.  They got snapped up quickly.

thanks gents, I went with the kit from Murphs as he includes a heap of extras and the fact that a few of my mates have done this same kit on their ST1100's etc, theirs have been smooth and behave very nicely. I have followed them on weekends away for thousands of K's and get sick of them just crusin along

I am particularly interested in how to run the cable onto the throttle drum between the carbies and am leaning towards the way they do it on the FJR.

Sorry for the delay but work has interfered with tooooooo much lately.

Last night, I finally got a chance to finish a few small jobs on the fitting of the unit and about 10.00 pm last evening a mate (who has the same unit on his ST1100) and I went for a short test run about 200k's but long enough to see how it performed, I must say it has exceeded my expectations and behaved exactly as the ones in both my cars (BMW & Landrover)  , smooth and responsive and I have at the moment only used the vacuum of one carbie I will probably use two as my mate says two is always better than one except in regard to your wife , if you tap the top right hand button it increases the speed in 2k increments or you can hold it and it speeds the bike to the new desired speed. The resume button works well and the unit disengages with a slight tap of the brakes back or front and also when you use the clutch. At night the lighting in the panel is excellent and allows you to hit the right button, as side benefit is that the light from the control unit now illuminates the high beam toggle switch which last night on unlit dark country roads was a real bonus.

I just have a few issues to fettle to ensure all the bolts in the carbie area are secured and that the heat shield needs to cut back a bit for extra clearance which is probably not needed but good for piece of mind.

All in all a good project.

I won't put up pictures as my FJ1200 has been modified after the T/Ace rear end swap, XJR1300 carbies and Pod filters that I have space and mounting points that you would not have on a standard FJ1200 where I was able to put the canisters and throttle connectors.

If anybody wants pics or info especially on which wires to hack into or just generally on how I went about it send me a PM.

I have done several trips with this now and am most happy very easy to use and very smooth in its operation, the only change I have made is to use two vacuum points, so on to the next project, 10 row oil cooler and spin-off filter.

I finally got my act together and sorted out some pics.

Small tang required to extend the idle arm to allow attaching of the ball chain swivel.

Just a quick update seeing its Christmas and all  I have been using this for quite some months and many many thousands of kilometers,I have only had the one time in its first week of use that it did not activate when I pushed the button and that was because I did a shoddy job on one of the connections which was quickly fixed  . I am now using two vacuum points from the carbie flanges as that works best, one works but the operation was jerky at low speed, with two its is just perfect 

It works smoothly and consistently maintains the set speed up and down hills and of course along the flat boring highways. It makes a huge difference to those longer trips and has I believe saved my license a few times. I even use it around town in a few of the speed camera black spots.

best hundred bucks I have spent on the old girl in a long time.

Interesting.  I was considering a Throttlmeiser but this seems a lot better.  One of these installed on my candy van failed after a few weeks though.

quite a few of us are running this kit over here in their bikes, mostly GTR's and ST1100/1300's, I think I am the only FJ  the only failures I have heard of, if you could call them failures, have been down to badly done wiring during installation (  I did that, forgot to solder a connection  ) or earths failing on an ST1100 due to wire routing.

One guy up north got the kit direct from the vendor to put on his BMW K100 with ABS I think and he couldn't get it to work and just kept complaining rather than listening to suggestions on how he may work through the issues, he binned it and refuses to discuss the issue 

It might a bit more effort to install in an FJ with an airbox as space is limited.

We have conned a mate to put one on his FJR and as it is his bike and not ours we reckon we can make it fit

yes they are the ones, I am using two for the cruise control and one of the others for the scottoiler.
