Good West coast morning,
I have a cabin reserved at Hunt's; I do not know how big it is but if there is room, someone can stay there as well.

Dean,

I talked to the owners of the KOA and they will allow us to pitch a tent where the kabins were.  We can bath in the river :)

I've got you covered.

I'm thinking henry got the big bed in Boone, I got it in CO, so it's your turn in Tellico.

Nancy, MD and I are in for either dinner and I agree with Danny this scattered to the wind rally lodging thing sucks. We'll be there on Wed leaving Sun.

Nancy,

I'd be interested in the pulled pork meal.

Nancy I will talk to my wife tonight and see which way she wants to go.

Nancy I don't really care which dinner.. Like I said, if it happens, I'm in for either.  If I had to pick I'd go pork bbq.

The snag:  My wife just had an accident with her car yesterday..  The car that I was going to pull my bike down with.  It's not legally driveable as is and unlikely to be repaired and ready by ecfr time.

I have two other cars, a civic and a mazda miata.  Neither being great tow vehicles.  My trailer is tiny and the bike is light so it could still work.  The miata oddly enough has the bigger motor (1.8 v 1.7  ) but the short wheel base might be funky pulling a trailer.  They do sell class I hitches for both and there's plenty of time to get one on.  Bike weighs 350, trailer weighs 150.  Anything could pull 500#.. right?

Or I could just ride.  500 miles one way.  Long haul on the thumper for a short weekend, but doable.

Well it brings me great sadness to say Michelle and I won't be able to make it to the rally this year. We were really looking forward to seeing everyone. I guess I will have to make a better effort to get to next years Spring Rally. Have a safe Rally everyone.

Never regret your choices in life ! There is no way to go back to do it again and compare. Make the most and do your best with every decision you make

Glad your wife wasn't hurt.  The rest is just money, and like my Nana used to say, "You're young, you'll make some more."

You can do it easily with a Miata.

I've done a lot of miles towing with a Miata - a 1.6 liter car, burdened with taller gearing from a 1.8 diff, burdened more with cams that are weaker <4,500 rpm than a kitten with asthma.  I've had no problems towing a 14' O'Day Javelin on a trailer, or a 4x8 utility trailer with two dirtbikes on it.  The constraint for me was not wanting to spin my trailers' little 8" tires much faster than about 65 mph.

Thanks Bill.  Yes thankfully it was minor with no serious injuries.  Car is out of commission for a few weeks.  There's a chance I could get it back in time, provided they are going to fix it -which I still haven't heard for sure on.

Been reading up and see it's not unheard of at all to tow light loads w mx5.  In fact it's looking like the better choice over the civic given the extra hp and rwd.  Several hitch options available for it which surprised me.

See there where there's a will there's a way.....all is not lost. Just hook that thing up and com'on!

Dan,

Check this link.  I've bought severalhitches from them.

I installed one on my Jetta before I sold it.  I towed my trailer and dirt bike no problem with that car.
