looking to get a maintenance charger I can use on the boat and the bike.

Any recommendations on the above or others you have owned and used.

The MXS5.0 sorta hits the price range and looks to do what I need.

Passed your inquiry to my electronics mate (Jim- Soundrider - Bike communications) this was his reply;_
Hi Dougie
There is nothing wrong with the battery charger and they are a good brand. Glad you enjoyed the Laverda Concourse. Catch you soon.
Cheers mate
Jim
Hope this helps.

Use them on all my bikes - BRILLIANT unit. Yamaha even sell the C-Tek with the Yamaha logo on it as a OEM accessory. :good:

I had one die after 5 years of use and C-Tek replaced it no questions asked. (I have three of them).

I have never used the CTEK, but I have used and sell the Genius brand chargers.

I stock the small 750mA charger for the FJ's and the larger 3500mA charger for everything else.

Genius G3500

Genius G750

So far I have sold over twenty of these units combined and have only heard good reports back.

Putting it out there your other options for you.

Well I must admit this has to be one of my better purchases, between installing an on/off switch for the headlight (OZ has this ridiculous law that headlights on motorcycles have to be hardwired on) and a new battery the FJ starts like a dream.

Why I didn't buy a maintenance charger years a go is beyond me.

Actually, the US is responsible for the "headlight on" laws that most manufacturers conformed to by removing the headlight switch on all their bikes.  However, some varied this by years or markets that the bike was going to.
My '91 FJ has a headlight switch.
My '01 Cagiva has a headlight switch
My '08 Aprilia Shiver has the headlight always on :-(

I much prefer having a headlight switch and being able to use my headlight as an additional warning device.

Cheers,
Arnie

Yes Arnie, we are blessed with all-wise bureaucrats and their consistency never ceases to amaze me.

I have always been of the opinion that I have the mental acuity to be able to turn a light switch on and just before I want to start my motorcycle turn said light switch off .

I am a bit either way on whether the light on makes a difference even though I always ride with mine on, I also have a Landrover Discovery which I also drive with the lights on and am continuously amazed how many people don't see me. Why they can't see 2 tonne of metal hurtling down on them I don't know especially as I have the up rated head light kit    :dash1:

On the bike I just presume that all car drives got up that morning with the intention of killing me and  I ride accordingly, with my lights on and testicles held tightly to my body  .

Oh, so it OUR fault??!!  How about the Europeans with their Eur-3 smog laws adding all sorts of weight we don't need to our machines?

Oh and the 300KM/hr restriction 'gentleman's agreement' they have with Japan (but not Italy...  MV Augusta 312 anyone?)

The Europeans have at least as much of an impact on the nature of the bikes the rest of us ride, as does the US -these days anyway.

Just saying,

Dan

I think the lights on adds a lot of visibility.

I had a mate convince me. He rode behind me for 10 minutes with no lights and then 10 minutes with lights on.
When we stopped for coffee (thing with bikes, they always seem to take you to a coffee shop thats at least an hour away) I said it made such a difference.
The thing I noticed most was how much more quickly you notice something is on the road and moving if they have their lights on.

Mine has a switch, if I could wire the headlights up to come on 30 seconds after the engine started I would do it with all my vehicles.
