Stone chipped headlight lens

Hi all, I've been trolling the net looking for a replacement headlight lens. Copped a nice big stone in the lens. Seems like it comes in a complete sealed unit (which I expected). I've found one that is showing part number  36Y-84321-E0 FJ1200. Can anyone tell me whether this will fit a 1990 3cv? It looks like it will, but I didn't take piccies last time I had it out.

When I queried the seller, he said it would fit a fj1200a 3bc3.

All advice greatfully accepted.

PS, Randy is the greatest FJ lover alive, and the guys keeping this site alive are awesome as well.

Cheers, Dazza

According to Boats.net the same headlight was used from '84 through to '90. That part # you quoted was different to the one on their website.   Regards, Pete.

gidday dazza. When you get your headlight done look around for a perspects cover. They are made for the fj. Think they are made by Ventura.   I go 1 on mine. Might save you a headache in future.  Check with Randy if hes got any. Mines a 3cv as well. 88-9 ,model. regards Jeff

Jeff, Daz....

I had one of those hard perspex headlight covers on a previous bike and hated it.  With the air gap between the guard and the lens, it was always getting dirt and mud in between cutting the light significantly.  When I got the FJ, I found a thick (2-2.5mm) vinyl headlight protector that has adhesive on one side.  Stick it on, and trim the edges carefully with a razor knife and you're done.  Its been on for 15 years and hasn't yellowed or gone cloudy.

Is it possible that an auto glass repair would work?  You know, the guys that use a resin to repair car windshields?  Seems like it would be worth a shot.

Has probably already been discussed, though ... sorry for my cobwebs.

aviationfred

I have one of these headlight covers. I have not put it on yet and road tested to see how I like it.

Does anyone if there is possible to get clear glass for the FJ headlight?
Doing research on replacing the ordinary halogen socket with a Xenon projector, and the original glass i suspect would distort the light from the projector, no?

Cheers
