What would be needed to put 3.5" front on to 93

In relation to this mod I have heard phrases such as 'plug n play' and slips right in!  The last person who said that to me I married and it's been nothing but agro ever since!

What would be needed? Don't think the rotors will swap, I assume my blue spots will still work?

Just wondering!

I put an '87 FZR front wheel on my '89.  FJ rotors fit the FZR wheel. Speedo fits too. You'll re-use your FJ axle.

i just re, fitted my now straight fz1 front wheel to my 89 forks, rotors fit speedo fits , just needed shims for the axle to the bearings ( 22 mm ) axle on fz1  :good2:
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

Being in the UK, another possibly available option is the XJR1200 rim and use the FJ rotors. (not the 1300 rim).
Nitrous is nice but I'd rather be blown.

'87/'88 FZR750 wheel is a direct bolt-on, bearings/spacer, rotors are all the same.....

Forgot to mention that mine is the abs version, it's already disabled and got blue dots on, but I will therefore need new rotors to fit the fzr or xjr1200 wheel won't I?  Will this make a difference to anything else, spacers, axle etc.  I assume there is no lining up issues with the callipers versus to xjr or for wheels?

Would an 89 onwards wheel fit?  Different part number to the earlier ones, not sure how it differs?
Anyone know what year this is, on ebay item number 370530568122  listed as RD model year?

XJR1200 rim will bolt straight in, same axle diameter, same spacers, (same centre to centre distance between the fork tubes), same rotor centre to centre spacing and same rotor mount PCD as your FJ but XJR12's run 320mm OD rotors so use the FJ ones and all will line up.

It gets more complicated with the XJR13 rims with later generations having gone to larger axle diameters and different rotor PCD's but XJR12 front rim swap is easy.

'89 and up wheels are all 3" wide, no FJ ever came stock with 3.5"...

The ebay wheel might work, email the seller and ask what the axle diameter is.... It still has the bearings in it, so he can measure the hole in the inner race. FJ needs a 15mm axle, IIRC.

Rich, I think Nurse was refering to 89 and later FZR front wheels with 17 mm. axle. At this point I'll avoid suggestions as to making this work.

Hein.
What do you mean, you don't have a lathe?

Cheers for the help guys.  Xjr1200 option is very appealing.  Just have to find some non abs rotors!

There appear to be loads of fzr rotors about (on fleapay) not many for xjr - but some and even fewer for FJ1200 (non ABS) they are all early ones.  Would the FZR rotors fit the XJR rim?

Anyone on here got a set of late model non-abs FJ rotors they want to get rid off?

Well I have found and purchased a gold xjr rim.  In good condition some flaking and scratching to the paint but it wont matter as it will be sprayed anyway!

All I need now is some late model non abs rotors, any one got any they want to shift?

Couldn't you just change the bearings? Might take some R&D to find the right OD for your new wheel and ID to fit the FJ axle.  :unknown:  Spacer wight take some work.

no   l uck finding bearings, had a machine shop make the shims/spacers to fit in the bearings to take the axle $10 for the pair , pressed in and bolted the wheel on , no issues so far  :good2:
