This tool may work on other years as well so please correct me. Very simple, first draw the part in AutoCad or other drafting design application you have just lying around. Next, get you friend at work to take the cad file and fit it into the next 1/4 SST job on the 3000 Watt CO2 laser that you happen to have laying around. Next thing you know it is waiting for you on your desk and ready for the next fork seal job. Life is good....

The outside hex fits the fork cap and the inside square fits a 3/8 socket extension.

The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

nice work, makes my welded nut/ 1/2" drive socket look boring
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

Nice work.  :good2:
BTW, I assume you had them gridded to a sheet that cut out a couple dozen for all your FJ buddies.  If you're gonna cut one, you might as well cut a bunch, I always say.
I, too work in a sheet metal shop with EVERYTHING BUT A LAZER CUTTER! My KINGDOM for a Laser cutter! Press brakes, turret punches yadda yadda yadda. All CadCam/CNC. Your tool is a very clever idea.
Does your tool come with the 350 lb gorilla to push in the fork caps while you thread them in?

I had extras made, I did not count, I just grabbed the bag and ran.

350 lb gorilla? You must have some crazy stiff springs or a boatload of preload.

I use a drill press (one of the tall, full size ones) to push in the fork caps. I have a 3/8 extention that is just the male end that I put in the chuck, then a socket (or what ever is needed) to match the fork cap. I adjust the drill platform to support the bottom of the fork assembly.  I use the quill handle to compress the spring, lock the q handle in position, and turn the inner fork tube on to the cap.
I've been hit by a few fork caps in my life, but none while using a drill press!

Yes, definitely!  I keep a gorilla in the third drawer of my toolbox.

Almost as useful as a trunk monkey (google it)

If I can get some help form a forum moderator I can donate the 5 extra tools I have (+cost of shipping) for members that have made a donation (amount not determined yet) to FJOwners.com or already donated recently. I do not have visibility of when a donation was last made by members. That is where an Admin level help comes in.  If this works well and more members want more tools then I will get more made.
