Valve Noise?

The engine on my 89 FJ is making a slight noise that sounds like a ringing bell.  The noise is coming from under the gas tank in the top of the engine where the valves are located.  I am assuming it is the valves and they need to be adjusted.  I can hear the noise when the engine is idling and being driven.  Has anybody else out there heard the same noise and if so what was the problem/cure?  Thanks for the help!

Valves have more of a tapping/ticking noise, my #1 intake is just under spec. A tappy valve is a happy valve  . Tight valves are bad, they burn things and require the head to be removed.

I think you're hearing the head fins ringing.  Later models had rubber dampers between the fins to supress this ringing.

So I should assume this noise in normal and nothing to worry about.  Is there a way to eliminate the noise?  Thanks for the insight.  Scott

At idle,the clutch rattles, the cams rattle, the starter chain rattles but you'll probably never hear the valves tapping, because everything else is louder..... I wouldn't worry about it.
