1400 mile road trip on a 1985 fj1100

so less then a month from now i will be doing my first road trip on my fj1100. leaving boston monday the 2nd and heading to stow vermont to stay over. then we will be riding threw smugglers notch and over to lake champlain taking the ferry across then heading down threw lake placid heading to watertown ny. does any one have any advice of what i need to know about a long trip like this

This will and is an awesome trip.... stayed at both places winter and summer -- roads are amazing.  In Stowe don't be afraid to strip off all the wears and jump in the rivers there to cool down.  Awesome stuff ( course I had a chick with me when I did that back in the day).
