While I dig RPM and all, $7.95 for shipping makes it a bit rich :-\ Really just looking for the OE part # so I can pick it up at the local stealership- Mark W.

I'm sure your FJ needs more than just a gasket, most of ours take a few pieces at any given time.
Simply order more from RPM so the shipping becomes less of an issue.

If you can't tell, I'm a very satisfied return customer of Randy's.
The dealer will more than likely cost more, but you may get lucky.

Andy, I've been looking at similar parts diagrams, but I can't figure out which gasket it would be. Forgive my newb-ness, but which would it be? Mark W.

Mark,

I am sorry the shipping is more than you would like to pay, but if you would have ordered it today you would have had it in your hands no later than Saturday.

I doubt you are going to find any "stealership" (your word) has one on the shelf or in your hands by Saturday.

I will gladly send you, the latest design in gaskets at a speed that I doubt can be matched.

Heck, if you order it tomorrow, you still might get it by Saturday.

Respectfully, Randy - RPM

I might have agreed with you a year ago but after two different mmbers of FJowners sent me parts free of charge I now try and pay it forward. Take Randy for example, he is always ready to lend us his knowledge when we have problems. I know he's saved me a headache or three.

$7.95,  cheap as chips for shipping,  last time i bought a clutch cover gasket over here was $35.00 , pretty sure randy,s would be cheaper even with shipping, ,, ok just checked rpm,s $9.95 for the same gasket,  know where im buying my next gasket from , how much to send one to tasmania  :flag_of_truce:
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots

Here's the routine with a dealership purchase:

Get into your car and drive down to the dealer's shop.
Wait while the snot-nosed kid behind the counter finishes texting
"Whaddya want?"
"I need a clutch gasket for an FJ."
"Isn't that a Honda?"
"No, it's a Yamaha."
"OK, let me look it up."
15 minutes later:
"We don't have it, I'll have to order it."
"How long will that take?"
"5 working days if it's in the US, 3 weeks if it has to come from Japan."
"OK, I'll take it, can you give me a call when it comes in?"
"Yeah, sure we will."

You pay your money and pray that he orders the correct part.
3 weeks later, you finally remember you ordered the part.  Having heard nothing from the dealer, you call them up:

"I ordered a gasket for an FJ about 3 weeks ago, has it come in yet?"
"We don't carry any Honda parts."
"No, it's an old Yamaha, can I talk to parts?"
"Sure, hold on."

15 minutes later, you get to talk to someone that knows absolutely nothing about your part and doesn't know how to check on it's status.  Further waiting finally produces someone in Parts that confirms that the gasket has been there for over 2 weeks:

"Why didn't you call me?"
"I wasn't the one that ordered it, in fact that guy doesn't even work here anymore."
(Plus, they didn't really give a $hit since they already had your money)

So, now you get in your car and drive down there only to repeat the search process because the guy you spoke to is out to lunch.  You finally get your gasket after wasting time, money and fuel.  Hopefully it's the correct part.

Had you ordered from Randy, you would get the CORRECT part, at a great price, sent directly to your house.  No wasted time, fuel or frustration.  THAT'S well worth the cost of shipping.  You might as well order extra valve cover grommets, probably ship in the same package

LOL David, that's very accurate.... I think that has happened to more than a few of us... :dash2:

And furthermore... Let's look at the prices: MSRP is what the dealer will charge you = $ 13.40. RPM's price, inc.shipping is $16.83

How far do you have to drive to your dealer?  *If* or *when*they get the correct part, is it worth saving $3.43?

Randy, I'll end up ordering from you anyway, since I'll likely be doing the valve clearances anyway- talked to the former owner today, who says it was never done in 32K miles- holy yikes!
Also, the dealership is on my ride home from school (working towards becoming a professor of history), so it's no trouble, and their parts guys are old friends- been buying everything from them for 9 years now! BUT due to some BS policy, they say they can't get the shims for customers- apparently the new owner is a jackass who'd rather get $0 than a few- foolish.
Cheers- Mark W.
