So this get's me thinkin.  Why the hard-on for the TSA Klav?  You and I have differed on this issue before.  You came down firmly on the side of a woman who tangled with the TSA and lost -was detained, and missed her flight.  Whereas from my perspective, she was an activist that went in looking for trouble, and she found it (she was traveling with a quantity of breast milk (greater than 4oz) and no child -had been there the week before 'causing trouble'...   I do not know, perhaps she was an innocent victim, but I'm guessing no.  Anyway, our difference on this issue, was the genesis of the "MALO PERICULOSAM LIBERTATEM QUAM QUIETUM SERVITIUM" in your tag -if I'm not mistaken (he says with a tinge of pride...)

At the time, I thought you were an anti-institution/ problems with authority kind of guy and this was the issue du-jour.  But this post, and it's specific theme-repeat, makes me wonder why the particular bile for the TSA?  Hell Klavdy, the feds, at a minimum see themselves as the owner of the 'protect the homeland' problem.  The TSA is a natural byproduct of such a perspective -especially after 9-11.

Note that we do not disagree, I have seen time and time again where large bureaucratic institutions are at best inefficient, and at worst, abusive and ridiculously costly, to the point of absurd waste. The TSA is no exception to this.  But the TSA is small potatoes compared to the big players.  Where is your bile for the defense department, social security, Medicare/ Medicaid, big agriculture, etc.  These folks have perfected wholesale theft and abuse.  -the $500 hammer anyone?

So I ask, simply: were you given a cavity search by the TSA at some point?

:)

My question is why do some people who are not US citizens feel it's okay to repeatedly bitch about our policies and laws?

We have had members before who were living in the States, were not eligible to vote, but still felt it was okay to be an activist about revoking our 2nd amendment rights as US citizens.  We have those who hate the TSA.  We have those who hate the police and/or the military.

I don't complain about the laws of other governments... if I don't agree, I just don't go there.  Being a free man, I have the option to do that.

Either move here, assimilate and vote you own mind, or deal with it.       :pardon:

Arnie

Now that is rich.  From the country that believes it has a god given right to be cop to the world and to dictate how every other country should behave.  A complaint for others to not be allowed to comment on policies that are forced upon the rest of the world by "his" country that refuses to even allow oversight by the world court.  I suppose you also support free speech even when you don't happen to agree, right? Or is that ONLY for US citizens?  And before you start hurling "patriotic", ethnocentric accusations at this foreigner, I'm not.  I am a US citizen who votes, and is able and willing to criticize where and when I feel it is deserved.

Ah, the $500 hammer. Why oh why do we need a $500 hammer. It is not about the hammer. It is about having a war time resource in place during times of peace preserve and protect the American nation and our people.

The defense indutry can not be justified nor can the military expense in times of peace. We maintain a huge military complex, and buy $500 hammers as a subsidy, to ensure we have smart people to make smart weapons to kill our smart enemies when they need killing. That is why we choose to subsidize this essential capability in times of peace.

I do not much care for the TSA folks and do not like the hollywood special effects security we keep in place. But, so what.

I really get pissed at people bloviating about social security and medicaid. Let people have a little security in their golden years, have some compassion and common sense. Tax the rich and the well off well and with justification to ensure the system remains well funded. Remove the limits and taks the deductions on all income and problem solved.

I travel quite a bit and Klavdy does as well...  they are a familiar target for me. I have lots of personal anicdotes that could be recounted, but I'll spare us all since we appear to be on the same side.   :morning1:

I don't hate Homeland Security per se and it is hard to take a position against something so vague.  TSA is easy in this respect and we know they do a completely bang-up job of security (I think a cavity search happens at the dentist  for most of these trained professionals...  makes me safer I think).  I have a close relative that has created software products for the gov't giving them access to your keystrokes if you are worth watching...  we all have reason to be paranoid. :bomb:

There are definitely bigger enemies, but I hate TSA too...  I can get my hands around that one!   :diablo:
