Hey BoB
I purchased a 1993 ABS model last spring with 23000kms on it and really enjoy the performance and affordability. One tip, invest in an upgraded seat. I had one done in your neck of the woods(Falkirk) and sent to northern Alberta, Canada . Great refinishing and affordable. As a side note, my mother is from Grantown on Spey. "Enjoy the wind"

the late model FJ's have rubber mounted engines and the collars will seize up over time.  A little TLC and she should be good as new.

Synching the carbs is always a good idea too of course  :good2:

I've done a lot to improve my FJ but doing the engine mounts made more difference than any other job. I'd spend week nights pulling it apart chasing vibes and rattles and would grit my teeth whenever I went over 4000rpm.
"The fix" has made it turbine smooth at revs, mirrors as clear as if it was parked and it hasn't developed a single rattle or vibration since.
The collars can be a bugger to get out, but it's REALLY worth persevering.

I also put grease nipples in the last one I did.

Hey Bob
I picked up a 1993 fj1200abs in alberta Canada last year and really enjoy an affordable low-teck sport bike. Tons of torque without downshifting. just turn the wrist and hang on. Enjoy, actually, think I'll go for a spin as its 14degrees celius today! Tough call as I'm watching the NHL playoffs. Nope , going for a ride!!!! Later    Mike
