Does anyone here have these on their FJ?

Would this not significantly (by 3/4") reduce the amount of fork tube that the handlebars are gripping on? Seems like most of the force would then be on the single 6mm bolt that goes vertically through the original and the risers?

The pressure under hard braking can be rather high and I just want to get some opinions.

No, the handlebars still clamp on the fork tubes.  If you don't have enough tube showing at the top of the triple trees, you just raise them up a bit in the triples.  They do help a bit in taking the pressure off of your wrists and getting you a bit more upright.  IMHO: I think they make the most difference to shorter folks - anyone over 6' and the difference is helpful, but not as dramatic.

Thanks Marsh,

I think helpful is a good start. I find it most bothersome when riding with the wife on the back. Here in Colorado there are only two types of twisties, uphill and downhill, the downhill ones are tough on your wrists and a little better angle would help.
I got a set for $75 used and if they don;t do the job I can always sell them to someone shorter (I am about 6"2").

I know what you mean.  Not only was I raised in Durango Colorado, I am also 6' 2".  I have a set I cannot use any longer since I have the YZF 600 forks on my 89 now.  I think I'll list them for sale soon.

Scapello and Marsh White,
It's been a couple months now since this post has been updated. Ssince you guys are 6'2" (Like me), did the handle bars risers help at all? If it did, was it signifigent?
Anyone want to sell any?
Thanks!

My risers have since found a new home with another FJer on this list - so I can't help with that aspect.  I suppose they do make a little bit of difference, but not much to me personally.  I can't say I really noticed not having them after they were gone.  Like I said, I think they make more of a difference for shorter folks.  IMHO

I am actually rather happy with mine. I had some numbing issues in my right hand that have gone since I installed the risers. It is not a huge difference in riding position but it seems to just be enough for what I wanted. Two up going down the canyons is still rough on the wrists but it certainly didn't get worst. For $75 it was worth the money for me.
