hi all, a mate of mine has one of those wicked looking new BMW sports bikes, can't remember the name, but he decided to buy new tyres AGAIN and passed his front one on to me, its a metzeller k3 about 90% tread left feels very soft ,probably won't last long, but should stick like shit to a blanket , anyone else tried these,
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots

I've been riding for over 40 years, and one of the first things I learned was to be careful mixing and matching tires. They need to be similiar compound. If you put a really sticky tire on the front and the rear is a high mileage tire, you might get a giddy backend. When changing tires, the charachter traits need to be the same. Think about this, you have a soft sticky tire up front and you're feeling good bangin a corner hard, then all of a sudden the hard rear tire breaks loose and slides, then it's pucker time. If your going to the Metzler, go to some place like Motorcycle Superstore and order a matching rear, then the bike will be intuitive, and both ends will give you the same feel. I love Metzler tires and they are sticky, maybe a lot more sticky than your current rear, and nothing will pucker your rear like having your bike going in two different directions.

thanks for the reply mate, ive only beed riding 25 years so still learning  :good2: , , thought the sticky front would create an issue like that, the rear is a 170 dunlop sports, not overly sticky but better than the 150 size tyres i had been using before the wheel swap , think ill just store it till i can afford a matching rear tyre    (popcorn)
