Got the bike as a "basket-Case',, Re-did everything, Bike has Dyna-2000 ingnition, pod filters Wiseco 10.25.1.pistons on a stock 1188cc bore, also has a 4 into 1 Vance pipe...Blah, Blah...  My problem is that it idles at like 1500rpm...All info i find says it "should" idle at around 1100-1200rpm. Do i simply have a wrong setting on the dyna ??  Or does the dyna do nothing at idle ??  Ive tryed high octane, low {87} octane, ive tryed everything i could think of, then i went to the Timeing.  Yes i could tone it down by turning the timeing, but then it rattled like a crack whores teeth...Lol !!  So, I put it back at 35deg.  Runs great but idles a little fast...No smoke, no loss of power...Any Help ??

I'll bite, what happens when you turn down the idle adjustment?  Is this what you mean by "turning down the timing"  Seems like this would be good information to have.  Gas Octane does not have anything to do with it, nor do I believe the Dyna has any impact here.

Perhaps the idle mixture screws are mal-adjusted?  Try the "blip test": rev it up and let off the throttle quickly. Does it rev down and hang above 1500 rpm at all before settling at 1500, or does it drop below 1500 then climb back up?  Ideally, it will do neither of these, if it does, then the idle mixture screws may need to be adjusted (2.5 -3 turns out, from lightly seated seems to be a good starting place).  I would also synch the carbs, and see if then you can turn the idle adjustment down.

Welcome here Rob BTW.

The idle jets are really small and tend to clog quickly with bad gas or enough time to turn to varnish. My experience is it needs way more than 15K to idle with the jets clogged. Might be sucking air through unexpected holes and causing a high idle.... Others with way more experience than I have can chime in and will likely need more information to help you.

This is also a very plausible explanation. To test this, judiciously spray starter fluid in and around the intake boots area, if you do have an air leak, the revs will increase.  I had an apparently similar problem with a Ninja 250 last year and to Ed's point, it turned out to be an intake boot that was not fully seated and leaking air.

Good luck,

What happens when you turn the idle adjustment screw down - CCW (it's located behind the cylinders underneath the carbs)?  And you do have slack in your throttle cable right?

Almost the same setup as mine

10:1 wiseco
dyna 2000
pods
mega cycle 268x2 cams
Mikuni flat slides
V&H

I idle at 1000-1200rpm

try to lower the idle speed as the guys said, check for air leaks,
did you have this issue before?
or have you made changes?
Look over what you did that may have caused the issue
If it's not broken, fix it anyways
