ABS not working

Hi,
During ignition the ABS light lights up and off (meaning is OK I guess).
While in operation it keeps off. I guess it should light up when ABS is activated while breaking or for some malfunction.
I've noticed ABS doesn't activate as tires lock and no light comes on...
Tested disconnecting ABS box. ABS light keeps allways on so I guess box is ok... not shure..
Sensors not working? What else to check?
Thanks

it's been a while since i had abs on my fj, mine worked flawlessly when i had it connected, but disconnected it to get the wheel upgrade/r1 brake mod.  it should _not_ light up when it's being activated at speed.  probably shouldn't be looking down at instrument cluster when doing a brake hard enough to engage the antilocks!  it will blink if you go over some rough road and it senses the wheels spinning at different speeds, but other than that it should remain off.  other than asking you if you're sure you've clamped down on the brakes hard enough to cause them to lock up, don't know what to tell you, other than pitch all that extra weight and lines and go with the r1 calipers.
