I decided to give my bike a good douching today and go for a ride. When i stopped i noticed the mileage. As of today i've put 30,000 flawless trouble free miles on my baby! I decided to take some pics. I hope you all enjoy them

I also took this video with the camera duct taped to my jacket. (Hard acceleration at 5:20) This video was taken at my from my friends house in Ooltewah Tennessee to the railroad bed nearby. Enjoy!

Nice 87. What kind of camera did you use for the vid?

I used a Sony DSC-W570 Camera. The bike is in nice shape overall but does have some issues. I hope i'll be able to tear it down next winter for a redo. It was my dads bike when i was a kid. When i was 17 he gave it to me. It's been very well taken care of it's whole life, and i treat it like gold. I'm 27 now and still ride the shit out of it! Its my everyday driver!

We need a "Like" button. Nice bike! :good2:

HEY - I just noticed your fuel guage needle is on the other side of the post like mine. I wonder how many others are like this (and HOW it gets like this)?

Very Cool Brian. Your Dad must be proud that you are taking good care of the bike. The bike looks bitchen.

Let us know what you would like to do to her and how we can help. It's great to see young folks take a interest in FJ's.

Cheers!

Consider them enjoyed by me - especially since it's 18 degrees in my neck of OH today!  You really are babying the FJ.  I've put 22k on my 89 since I bought it 21 months ago.  Thanks for the uplift.

Lotsokids - I have no idea how the needle got like that, Kind of annoying though. I think my dads old 1100 was like that too.
Pat - He is happy i treat it right and he's happy i ride an FJ. He had that and an '84 FJ1100 at the same time The plates were SWTFJ on the '87 and RATFJ on the '84. The 87 was his mint one and the '84 was the ratty one but it went like hell! Somewhere i have a pic of me when i was like 12 standing next to both of them. I'll have to find it and scan it. He sold the RAT when i was 13 or 14 and says he kicks him self in the ass for doing it because we could have rode them together. He decided he didn't feel like riding anymore and gave me the '87. 2 years ago he decided he wanted to ride again and wanted another FJ but he didn't wanna take that one back because he knew how much i was in love with it, so i told him i'd find him another one. I was at a bike dealer with my friend (He used to work there) and we were talking to his former co-workers and one of them started checking out my bike and said "hey do u want a parts bike"? I said "Sure!" He said "we have one outback in the fence that someone abandoned here, Its a shitbox but theres plenty of parts on it". I looked at it and it only had 19K on it and it was all there with all good plastics, it was just faded from the sun. I bought it for 300.00 and in 1 day i got it running and it ran like a clock. There's dads new bike! A couple hours later, a jumperbox, and a gatorade bottle for a gastank i was riding it around. It drove just as good as it ran, SCORE! It also had a new Vance & Hines exhaust on it, thats going on my bike, he wants the stockers. so it worked perfect! It's an '86 that needs a gastank and a paintjob. Pics are on my profile. My bike looks and rides really good but needs a bunch of stuff (thats  why i'm gonna tear it down when i get the chance) It needs a Starter clutch (you should hear the sounds it makes when it starts), grind, clunk, clunk, clink, but it still starts everytime! It needs a windshield, fairing air ducts, the fairing has cracks in it so i'll find a mint one, a seat (stock seat sucks), grips, valve cover gasket, probably valve seals, the inner black fairing plastics are cracked and they rattle (Very Annoying), and of course the belly pan. What sucks is that all that stuff on the '86 i bought was mint but it just ran and drove too good to take apart, and Dad needed another FJ! I'll score parts here and there and when i have them all, I'll do it! Hopefully the starter works that long. There aren't many young people that know about FJ's, but the ones that do love them. It doesn't get too much attention from young people till they ride with me. When they do they're amazed that the heavy old dinosaur will hang with their new bikes, then they're full of questions! Older people are alalways talking to me about it, or pulling up next to me at a light and starring at it.
Mark - The mods are in the works.
Cyclenutk75 - It's not much warmer in Tennessee today, but i did go for one ride! Babying it? a little but more like taking good care of it. Always clean, always covered, stored inside when it sits for any length of time, Mobil 1, etc. It has seen some beatings and seen 155mph a few times (thats where it falls on it's face). It would have alot more miles on it but i live primarily in NH so it only sees 3 seasons, and i lost my licence for 4 years when i was 18 (Dam Mazda RX-7's) I'll catch up though!

The two quotes I hear most often:

"My dad used to own one of those"

"I sold my FJ.  I sure miss it and wish I had it back, best bike I ever had."

Followed by:
"Wow, that looks nice, did you restore it?"  (no)
and
"Man, that thing can still move."
