The truth is if someone really wanted to take the ride, I would probably be willing to take the lead.

This is why Glenn has received the "Nicest guy at the rally" award for the last 2 years now.

It really isn't a bad idea though, if enough people wanted to go to the coast.

We could split up, one group heads for the coast and the other group stays in the mountains.

It gets a little complicated keeping 10+ bikes together anyways.

On this forum there are dicks, assholes, cunts, boobs, and boneheads. Glenn is none of those.

+1 :)

Travis is right; the mountain rides are awesome. There should be pictures in the rally section. If you haven't ridden in the mountains it is pretty cool!
I would also like to see the fj powered (legend?) Car race! I would be game for a ride to see that, the ocean,  & a taste of lobster.
Thanks guys!!

In reality, I think Bar Harbor is to far for a one day round trip from Bethel. But if there really is interest in getting to the coast, Boothbay Harbor is very doable. It would be around 220 miles round trip. It's a classic coastal town, with some nice seafood restaurants right on the water. It is a busy tourist town, but fairly easy to get to, and get around. The ride would not be all that interesting, but that might not be bad after many of you guys cranking out the miles on the trip to Bethel. I would be willing to give up the Mt. Washington loop and take lead on a coastal loop. The Rangely route is still my favorite of the two. It's partly because I have spent more time in the White Mtn area. The Rangely route has some nice altitude changes, rough and smooth roads, a nice lunch, and some fast curvy roads.

I'm happy either way, and we still have some time to think it over.

Orr's and Bailey Island is a nice ride, stone bridge only one left in the world like it I think. It would take 50ish mi off of boothbay trip. Near Brunswick/Topsham Me.
Better roads in the mountains for not seeing cops every 10 mi like on the coast too.
We can try moat mountain brewery for lunch in N conway good food/drink if everyone wants to.

FJ........ stands for so many things.......Fantastic Journeys....Friendly Jesting......Fiercely Jealous......Firebread Jurassica.....Flawless Jasperite......Flying JackKnife....Faded JollyRoger......Fullout Jammin.......Fucking Jackass(excuse my french).....Finding Jezebel....Fellow Journeyman.....to name a few..... :mail1:.....

Some members in here have all the friends in life they will ever need......but I joined this group to make new ones and share the grin.......I know you can not make friends punching words on a website.......friendships happen when you talk to people face to face and do things together and share experiences together....this is the Maine reason why I wanted to do this rally. Friendships for some.....like Randy-T were the main reason why he was here....but when those friendships dissappear........so does the man. Friendship takes time and effort.....and words can either Forge them.......or Junk them.....if I have said anything offensive or mean or rude.....to any of my Fellow Journeymen...I would humbley ask your forgiveness........Glen....Trav.....Klavdy....my apologies... :hi:...I truly would love to make friends with everyone here....(assholes excluded)......and I hope that everyone will one day feel the same......hoping for your return Randy-T

PS.......You lead......I will follow...Bar Harbour was a stupid suggestion .....been there already anyways !!!!
PPS......Trav....I know you love to jab us folks north of you.....but no matter what you say...I think deep down inside...you love the Red and White....... :drinks:

I would be happy just to ride there, see an FJ powered car race, eat, dip toes in the Atlantic.., ride back....

Like Glen..... I'm happy either way, either route, .... :good2:

cheers
paul

ps: what ever happens...thankyou guys for the offers!!!

OK the track is about 20 mi from the coast.  For the people that would like to see the Atlantic and get their feet wet. Hampton beach area. When I go to practice you could go to the coast and be back in time for feature, poss heats depending on how long your there.

I cut myself a bit of a fine line....I should be getting my passport renewal sometime within a week......and looks like CanD will be up and running again by tomorrow....hopefully...dropped a cylinder last Friday....it's either a lame plug or wire...or cap...nothing to worry aboooot.....lol

Hampton beach would be a lot nicer than anything in Portland.

it sounds like Bob is going to lead the Atlantic rally, the guys that want to go to the ocean can follow him down, hang out at the beach. Then hang out at the races or just drive back to the campground when they are ready.

we'll keep the campfire going for you guys

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

RACER111V

Hampton beach is a very busy place on a Saturday night in the summer. It is a nice ride in the spring and fall, but in the summer it is packed solid with people and cars, cars, cars. It is a fun place, but way too crowded for my taste. Portsmouth is nice, but it takes a little work to get to the water. Rye beach is an option if you can find a place to park. Odiorne park  http://www.seacoastsciencecenter.org/visit_today/odiorne_point.php would be great except it says it closes at 5 pm ,but that may just be the Science center, not the park. I'll see if I can find out when the park closes, but I'm guessing it's dusk.

weymouth399

I only brought up Hampton beach cause you come in from the rear coming from star. And you got to show them the wonderfull domed buildings in Seabrook. :shok: There is not many left.

Glenn is from down that way he's the man for a coast tour.  :pardon: Glenn don't want to throw you under the bus, IF Glenn wants too.

There are a few more southern NH riders, maybe they might/should come along too.

Glenn is going to be busy, riding the high speed twisties with me. Surely these guys can handle finding their way that last 20 miles.  :empathy3:

I'm with Travis on this one. I'd rather ride some fun roads. I just had lobster on the 4th of July from Price chopper. It was awesome and only $5.88 a pound. I guess it will be a small group riding the fun roads then?
