Does anyone know if the front and rear wheels from a 92 FJ1200 w/ABS will fit an 84FJ1100?
Thanks,

    Hi Chris.

The rear wheel is no problem as long as you run all the ABS components that go on the abs wheel, you don't need the sensor so you can just block off the hole. The axle, brake mount and the cush drive are all the same. The front wheel, however, is a bit of a problem as the discs and calipers on the 89-93 are quite different from your 84. You would need a set of late style lower legs or machine a set of adaptors to make this swap.

Abs and non abs front wheels are interchangeable as long as you run late style forks. Be aware that the abs rotors even though they are the same dia. and have the same disc to disc spacing  are a totally different design then non abs rotors. There are no aftermarket discs available for abs rotors that I know of.

If it was me I'd upgrade the forks to 89-93 style first then do the 17" front wheel. This would also allow you easily upgrade the front calipers to late monoblock style.  Hein.
What do you mean, you don't have a lathe?

To what Hein says.

Also, be aware the at the '92 rear wheel is only a different style, there is no advantage to using it.  It is the same size as the '84 wheel 3.5x16"

They are a tiny bit lighter...I was suprised to find my '92 hollow 3 spoke FJ wheel weighed ~4 lbs less than the early style FJ '84-87 back rim....Hey, unsprung weight is unsprung weight.

Still, Arnie is right. 3.5" is much too narrow for today's modern rear rubber. Motorcycles are all about tires!

Got it. The rear will fit but not much point except for looks. The front will fit with later shocks and calipers.
The brake discs will be expensive to replace but they only have 14,000 miles on them so will be a while before I have to address that.
Thanks

The brake disks may not have the life you expect from them either.  If the swept part of the disk is the same as the 298mm OEM '89-91 disk - they are known to be soft.  My '91 only had 35,000 Kms (23,600 miles) when I bought it and the disks were below spec.  I had to get new disks (PFM cast iron) to pass the roadworthy check.
