hey... whats the opinion of the hindle exhaust for the fj....my 85 came with a 4-1 hindle supersport....im assuming its theyre "race model"...has a carbon can, and spring mounts to the flanges that bolt into the head..

i LOVE the way it sounds!!!....thinking it might benefit from a re-pack tho...i can see spots where the packing is missing through the holes in the baffle tube.....

I have run 2 Hindle's on my FJ Bo on oth had funky mid pipes. The first one had a large diameter midpipe and the carbon can would touch down on right hand turns if was was leaned over at a decent angle. Second one was a "newer" design with a mid pipe about .5 " less in diameter BUT it kicked the can out at a funky angle. The pipe also had clearance issues with the oil pan.
Power was OK as the first one made 130HP (something like that....it was along time ago) with RS38's and Yosh stage1 cams. Second one made over 150 with a 1314 kit, web's, FCR39's etc.
I currently run an older type Vance and Hines Supersport system. It fits much, much better than the Hindle(s). I have also run a Yoshimura pipe and that midpipe was so fat i had to cut of the right side centerstand tab. It wasn't a very good pipe either.

Park the bike on it's sidestand and pull the left side oil cooler line fitting at the oil pan. Drain away.
To make it easier to get to the 2 bolts on the fitting, replace the 2 allen head bolts with conventional 10mm hex heads, so you can get in there easier with a box end ratchet.
Buy a dozen O rings to keep on hand and replace them every other or every 3rd oil change...

Weld a bung on the left rear corner of the oil pan and you never have to remove the belly pan again for oil changes.   Hein
What do you mean, you don't have a lathe?
