I just swapped a 400 Suzuki Burgman scooter for a "sweet" 89 FJ 1200  today. couple of questions, does anyone make a backrest or luggage rack for it and does anyone make a kit to raise the handlebars? Peg relocation kit? Thanks in advance, Kenny.

Kenny, welcome to the group. When you say backrest are you asking for the operator or passenger? Passenger is easy as some seats (Corbin) offer them. Some rear racks also offer the like. For the operator you might need to go custom. Luggage racks can be found and if required modified to fit. You can raise the bars. Not sure what is offered for the pegs, the riding position is not that harsh.

Tell us more about you, what bikes have you had? What kind of riding do you do. Would you vote a fellow FJ rider into presidency if he had purple wheels? We want to know....

Kenny..... type "handlebars" in the search box up the top RH corner of the page.....you'll find lots of posts about what folks have done.

Welcome to the group.

I'm a 54 year old manager for Auto Zone in Harrisburg, Il. Guess I'm going through "that" stage in my life where i need a rush in my life again! LOL :sarcastic: I have owned over 60 motorcycles in my life, from a honda 50, to a fire breathing Kawasaki 750 H-2 3 cyl two stroke monster, to the GS1100's I used to drag race! This is my first FJ 1200 and I'm going to love it I'm sure. I need a luggage rack to mount a travel trunk to. (will ckeck e-bay) How do you raise the bars? Also I'd like the tallest windshield still available if you know. Thanks, Kenny.

That post has some info on handle bars - or an idea at least. Aftermarket top clamp by WORKS QUALITY with renthal bars. Mine's the '92 with the tall screen, and I'm 6"2 tall. I find the riding position pretty comfy, can sit for about 4 hrs before I feel the need to get off and stretch. Windblast just catches the top of my helmet cause to clear off heavy rain spots I have to just crane my neck up for a second and away they go..

Here's the most pertinent pics for ya..

Hope some of this helps  :good2:

Also I have rear-set pegs, no idea where they came from, mod was on when i bought the bike, but here they are...  So they're out there somewhere..  :good2:

No maker's plate or logo on them sorry unless someone else recognises them?

Tmkaos, I'm not positive, but that rear-set looks like it might be Tarozzi. I believe they also make a set that includes rubber pegs.

I recall my first test ride with an FJ.  Had my wife along, and she's ridden a lot with me, but not on a bike that pulls as hard as the FJ with throttle roll-on.  Silly dealer sprayed armor-all on the seat.  I roll around a mini-van and watch the speedo needle matching the tach needle then realize that I'm starting to feel light in the seat.  Wife is sitting on the fender extension and barely holding on by her fingernails.

Yup...  Seat back in our future when we finally get our FJ.

Yeah  - I had my missus in mind when I bought my pack rack, not only for our gear but in case I forgot she was there and got too keen with the kookaloo.. Happened once just like you said, gave us both a fright..  Now she knows to brace up good and tight when I make it to the front of the queue at the lights, and good on her, she loves the kookaloo too.. After I back off I can hear her giggling away...  :good2:
