I find that if I leave it in te rain it gets dirtier than before..which is really annoying when it rains the afternoon after I finish scrubbing her down..

Havent used wax though and never used a hose, too afraid I'll spray the wrong thing...

Also make sure u have something to cover the gas cap so no rain gets in the tank(not that it should anyway)

Oh and welcome to the group :good2:

I wash the crap out both of mine, hose, power washer, good car shampoo/wax, sometimes pinkstuff to get the nasty off (real carefully though). I do the same with my dirt bikes and store them bathed in wd 40.

I havn't waxed it yet but that's this winters project. (after the ice bikes and racecars) Hope it gets done. :shok: Not much that can't get wet, they do run in the rain.

Does Pat own stock in Simichrome? lol
I am thinking that Pat was less than pleased with all the ineffective polishing products on the market, so he invented one to meet his standards. The rest is a shiny history that that blinds you when the sun hits it.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Ok, so I pick up my $800 bargain on Saturday morning and can't wait to get it back to the heated shop where it's being stored for the winter and start to work on it. Unfortunately, all I have time for is to drop it off and head to work (I hate people who quit with NO notice).

So this morning I head over to the shop to start cleaning the 10 years worth of dust and crud on it, so as I'm cleaning it I figure it would be good to get right under the seat. Well I tried to figure out how the seat comes off, for an HOUR!! Finally I lean against the work bench just laughing my ass off because no I have to go home, go on the internet and figure out how to do it!!  :dash2:

It MUST be a newbie thing, because my Honda was real easy.

Oh well, I still have 4 months until riding season!!

Steve.......RH side beneath the passenger grab handle is a helmet lock.......its also the seat lock.
Turn the key one way and the helmet lock drop open, turn it the other way and the seat unlocks.
Now, also beneath the grab handles, there are 2 latches - one either side..... flip them down and the seat unlatches (pops up a wee bit). slide the seat rearward a 1/2 inch or so and it disengages at the front.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.

We ALL struggled with the seat the first few times round, believe me

+1 on that, if the PO had not shown me how, I reckon it would have taken me quite a while to work it out, with associated cursing and swearing :)

At least now I can go back to the shop and do some tinkering because I'll be able to get the seat off!!  I think I'll have a good chuckle over this for some time to come.

Thanks again for the help!
