I got no idea what it is. I think its a "Yamaha Turbo" as that was all the decals to go by. The dealership manager wasnt there and the assistant didnt know either, not even the engine cc, but its design looks even older than the FJs
Life behind bars - is actually quite thrilling

It really is an ugly little thing, worse than the FJ600

Its no wonder people say the FJ1100 was Yamahas first serious motorbike

The same turbo model was for sale on the Toronto kjijiji list (sort of like craigslist) for months with price drops but no takers. Finally he stopped mentioning that it was a turbo and it was gone from the list in a couple of weeks. His final price was $500.00  Turbo charging a bike was a great idea and I remember all the buzz about it at the time but ultimately it didn't work out so well.

Yup. I remember test riding one years ago. The digital boost gauge was proportional to the pull on your arms!

A skinny version of myself touring on the Turbo in 1989 (or so)

Flyover Country Joe

I remember test riding one of the Yamaha Turbos in 1988. It was okay, but I was not impressed enough to want to get rid of my Radian. It pulled very well on boost, but seemed to run out of breath too soon. Brakes seemed pretty wooden as well. Not long after that, a guy I worked with was selling his Suzuki turbo, still regret not snagging that one.

RACER111V

Honda made an equally ugly CX500/650 turbo pig during the same years. It had a bunch of restrictions that only allowed it to make boost only at certain speeds, gears, and rpms. It was very confusing to ride. The Yamaha was more a lot more fun to ride.
